XP pro, i wouldn't dream of touching vista, or OSX

I have recently been using a new school laptop for doing some course work at home(i'm in an apprenticship) because my home PC stuffed up. My bosssaid it's ok as long as i test it and see how good they really are. I'm a bit puzzled what i can do to see howfar i can push it, ive run a benchmark test on passmark(436.7) and run a virus scan completed in decent time. What else can i do to measure how good this is?

Taking apart stuff is fun ! Just remember to use protection.. A gimp braclet (or anti static wrist band, as some say.) Especially on a server. Maybe a sign on the server room door "NO EATING OR DRINKING" Allthough coffee is good for you and there is no such thing as to much(even when your arm tingles for 24 hours)

We considered getting a new battery, but if we get a whole new UPS we will have documentaion and have it connected to the servers properly rather than hopeing they shut down. might be fun to try and replace battery the "maniac" way i like messing about/discovering what i can do, with high voltage equipment.

The batery was suspected, thanks for that. We have got clearance to buy a whole new shinny up to date UPS(to our amazement). The new one shall not have beeping enabled....

We have an Ancient power supply it's made by upguards and is a PRO 1400. But being as old as it is (made for NT and 95) it was installed by previous employees, so naturally no documentation. We got in the office this morning and it's beeping. Four short beeps and a pause for 3 seconds then four short beeps etc etc. As you may guess it's driving us mad, unfortunately unplugging it is not much of an option as we have servers plugged into it... I've had a look on the web but cannot find anything, apart from a website in Romanian trying to sell one... Any help would be grand, we have checked it's plugged in and no unusual lights are on. For the sanity of this office please help.

he's just found a cash cow and milking it for all it's worth, i don't have a high view of him, i think violent games shouldn't be played by children or the insane, but ive played them for years and haven't killed anyone yet.

Being only 19, i've never seen the old swap shop. I'm a 90's child and grew up with a stapple diet of good cartoons, transformers(bring on the live action film, thundercats, bucky o'hare and of course bananaman and super ted when i was a bit young for the others. It's been said before and i'll say it again they don't make them like they used to, most of the new shows look like they where made while the creators are stonned! [RANT/] Hmmm interesting, I read through the reparations they want the British to pay, but most of the damage was caused by the British Empire which no longer exists. So how the hell is Britain accountable. I mean they are blaming us for holes in the Ozone because of the industrial revolution (without which they wouldn't have computers or internet to moan about this on...) I'm not the most patriotic person, but I know what me and my country should be held accountable for, and it's not people opening factories over 100 years ago, maybe blame the inventor of cars they do a hell of allot of pollution. Inventing machine guns, because if you want to point the blame for inventing weapons look to the states, atomic bomb anyone? (Yes ok we sent 2 scientists to help, one of whom a Russian spy but none the less.) So yes 100 years ago we had an empire we spread our culture and language, and of course we made a few mistakes and naturally some greedy people extorted money from others.
