I went on to say how I tend order quite often from Dominos or Pizza hut. Got to talking about how much they cost and such, mine tend to end up around the £17-£19 mark. Out of interest I checked back over the year at just how much I'd spent on Pizza. Shockingly it came back at over £800.. I knew I probably ordered too many, but didn't think it was that bad! Anyone else addicted?!

TwoZeroAlpha Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I'm intolerant to wheat (found recently) which sucks because I love pizza. So sometimes I just go for it and ride out the consequences. I do the PizzaExpress club, £45/pa and you get a free pizza and drink voucher every 3 months, £10 for your birthday, £10 every time you get 10 stamps in a card and £10 4 times a year when you fill in an online survey. Works out as very worthwhile.

We always take advantage of the vouchers they stuff through the door occasionally, plus we get a discount as the better half works for the NHS. If you don't ask you don't get! Don't think we spend anywhere near £800 a year though! That's a hell of a lot of pizza!
aerospacemango Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Sadly, I live to far away from a Domino's! When I lived in Ilford, I had one at the bottom of the street.....Recipe for disaster! On my days off (I was single at the time) I could be sat at my PC, order a pizza with a side, and 25 mins later, they'd be knocking at my door! I used to do that once a week, and it was pizza heaven! Ordering online meant that the side order was usually free too!

They even combine their kebab/fish n chips sides with the pizza side, so you can get a donner meat pizza or a fish n chips pizza ... or depending on your tastes... 1

Try this, but with Spelt flour. I made a few for a do my mum was having, the only person in the room who noticed the difference was a retired baker. Pizza dough recipe | Pizza recipes & pizza toppings | Jamie Oliver recipe You might need to let the dough rise for a bit longer. Unless you're really hungry I'd halve the quantities in the recipe, I get 4 pizza out of each half batch. Baking your own is much better then takeaway. 1

penfold Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Make your own!!! I must say since we started to make our own, we haven't ordered a single pizza. Ok I dont make the dough as I cant really, but my better half can so she makes the base and we stick whatever we fancy on it. It got a bit stupid with toppings when we couldn't actually eat it properly due to overload, but we've scaled it back now. But making your own is quick and easy and you get a pizza full of all the toppings you like

I sometimes order from Domino's, quite often go and dine in at Pizza Hut (I worked in the one I eat in for about 3 years) but mostly I order from a place not too far from me that do a 'small' pizza (10") with fries, awesome garlic bread (a baguette sliced lengthways and covered in garlic butter, best garlic bread I've had from anywhere) and a can of pop for £8.50, far too tempting! If anyone is interested, the place is called Pizza Donnini, it's in Bilston but they deliver quite a few miles out, if they deliver to you (they're on Just-Eat) then I highly recommend them, fantastic place!

For the sake of argument, changing the sauce or having double anything won't count toward your 3 toppings Mine would be: - Peperoni - Onions - Jalapenos On a thin base

Rawns Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I worked a 2nd job last year delivering Domino's pizza to get money for a honeymoon (which got cancelled because of that bloody snow! ) The delivery side was "meh" - easy minimum wage, driving, listening to music, and the tips were OK when you got them. I loved it for the food aspect though! Any mis-cut or mis-made pizza meant us drivers got to devour them in the back! Any new pizzas/sides that came on the menu were cooked up for us to sample! Plus one supervisor was always good to us staff (Once after my shift, I ordered a large big smoky, chicken strippers, wedges and waffles and he charged me £3.50 for the lot!!! Shame he left a month after I started!) It took me 6 months to get the cash together for the honeymoon.... but to be fair, I could have quit after 3 months with enough but that 50% staff discount was just too damn good!!!
andyturpie Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I loved Dominos, but the price was astronomical. I have a topps pizza right next door and we can get just as nice pizza for half the price. (american hot, pepperoni and green chilli). One thing about Dominos and I don't know that this is still the case, if you do a bit of research via clips of Mark Thomas comedy project, you might like to know where the company profits were going back then.....

bodminman Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I used to regularly tuck into a pizza at least most weeks whilst watching a film. That is until I went to Italy in 2001 to visit the Italian side of the wifes family. The first night there we had a pizza at a local trattoria which blew my mind and only cost 5euro! Been back over there 7 times since and the last price I paid was 6.5euro. After that I haven't been able to part with my £10+ for a sub standard one! Sorry!
