Dos_Box Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I've just popped down the bank and on the way from teh car park walked past the Preston branch of Game. Now, I've been giving quite some thought as to dipping my toes in the WoW environment, especially since Shaun showed me it at his house last month. In Game they had teh WoW Battlechest marked up for £19.99, which includes the WoW install, the Burning Crusade expansion pack and 2 stategy guides. 'Not a bad price' I thought, so took them to the checkout. It turns out they are currently in their sale. For £9.99. I'm now a very happy chappy
Little-Miss Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I'd quite like to play WoW, but i find the fact you have to pay to play it online a bit off putting, especially as i pay for XBOX live
featured_spectre Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 littlemiss what games do you play on live? On the topic of WoW...I hated paying monthly to play the game, but it is a good game!
Hightower Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I'd quite like to play WoW, but i find the fact you have to pay to play it online a bit off putting, especially as i pay for XBOX live Yeah, annoying isn't it. I hate having to pay to play online. Oh wait, I have a PS3 - I don't have to pay to play online
Arcath Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 WoW never held my attention for that long, i hate the fact that theres limited player numbers per server and that it costs (If memory serves) to copy a character onto another server. EVE on the other hand keeps me intrested and i get a genuine feeling of acomplishment when my bounty prizes come in and my salvaged goods fetch a good price. Plus the EVE universe is huge and everyone plays in 1 universe
Little-Miss Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 lol thanks for that Hightower Erm, well the game i play alot online mulitplayer wise is Left for Dead 1 and 2! I probably dont play enough games for it to be worth it, but i like it being there.
Hightower Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I love the Fallout series, but have recently got into Borderlands (not sure if it's PS3 only though, so sorry if it is) - I was a level 6 last night, but I invited my level 33 brother into my game, and within half an hour I was a level 12. I believe that's a feature in WoW where others can help you level up, and it is definately one of the better features in Borderlands - just wish Fallout had something along the same lines.
apeo Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I find pay to play off putting too and i play most on my xbox now.. well that is i used as my is xbox is being repaired so i dont have an xbox to play on . Couple of games im waiting for on the PC are Diablo 3 and Guildwars 2. Edit: You can get Fallout and Borderlands on xbox, i did like Borderland but didnt complete it.. need to pick it backup again when i get my xbox back.
copson90 Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I used to play WOW, but couldnt really put in the hours. I just stick to xbox live now........FIFA 11 and MW2 keep me entertained enough!!
CAM Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Join usssssss! Do find out what server your friends are playing on before you sign up though. I'd suggest an EduGeek clan but then people would be spread everywhere .
GrumbleDook Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Does this mean the 3 of us will be on WoW each evening next week?
AshMan91 Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 In all honesty, I prefer "lord of the rings online" As it's free to play and has a proper storyline to follow, whereas "World Of Warcraft" has nothing to it. You can download and install the game straight to your computer without having to go out and purchasing anything. I don't play it as much anymore because of Xbox/ps3, but if i had people to play it with, id get back into it. Just giving my opinion

Admittedly you don't have to follow it but it is there if you want to
linuxgirlie Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Does this mean the 3 of us will be on WoW each evening next week? Make it four! I never liked the idea of paying monthly for a game, but once I started I got hooked, dread to think how much money I have spent in the last 4/5 years.
Rawns Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Join usssssss! Do find out what server your friends are playing on before you sign up though. I'd suggest an EduGeek clan but then people would be spread everywhere . Not if everyone rolls a new alt on the same server.
Tech1 Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 It's £6.98 if you order it online - World of Warcraft Battlechest - PC Games and Downloads - GAME.co.uk
anerney Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I would roll on a different server with an alt if people would do that, I am only a casual player, I don't go for the best gear or anything, planning on gearing my main as a PvP healer so we will see
gotenks1321 Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I would roll on a different server with an alt if people would do that, I am only a casual player, I don't go for the best gear or anything, planning on gearing my main as a PvP healer so we will see I'd be up for that. Getting a little weary of running dailies and heroics for new gear so a new start would probably liven things up a bit.
GrumbleDook Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Ok ... I would suggest that we look at two servers, one for alliance and one for horde, and alternate between the two when playing (I know some folk dislike playing horde and vice versa). All characters have to be Alts and, where possible, not on a server you have a group of toons on already unless you can suggest one where you are in a healthy guild who might be willing to help out occasionally. I'll have a look at which realms are low on population tonight, but please suggest away.
CAM Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Make it four! I never liked the idea of paying monthly for a game, but once I started I got hooked, dread to think how much money I have spent in the last 4/5 years. I sat down and worked this out. Over 6 years, going by the payment record in my account management, I totalled £500 approx. This is subscription costs only as well, then you add initial purchase, expansions, character transfers... But for the amount of time I've got out of it, worth it! Oh and go PvP, PvE ruleset is boring.
Little-Miss Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I have no idea what you 2 have just said. Go on then, how much is it to play online? Might download the 10 day trial.
linuxgirlie Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 (edited) Hmmm well I am addicted to store pets, transfers, race changes...... I think I will ignore the cost! Well I could recommend "Stormrage" it's PvE though, but my guild is all adults and quite a few work in IT. It's not hardcore either....but if you want us to start all alts I couldn't as I have filled it up. Though I could transfer....damn there's the bank balance decreasing again.... Happy to roll on another server and PvP one is fine for me if that's what others want as I heard it makes you a better player Also I am hardcore Horde, but I would also roll a Ally for a Druid Worgen...please please please give me an excuse to!! Up for a go, if you want me..... Edited January 5, 2011 by linuxgirlie
linuxgirlie Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I have no idea what you 2 have just said. Go on then, how much is it to play online? Might download the 10 day trial. It's £8.99 a month but you can buy it 6 monthly that gives you a discount.
featured_spectre Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 PvP = Player Vs Player PvE = Player Vs Environment (EG going to do quests and such like) I was heavily into guild wars simply for the fact that you did not have to pay monthly and there was next to zero lag on any server I went on, unlike WoW which has massive lag each time I played....
