Just trying to work out what the annual costs might be. For it to be worthwhile for us the cost would need to be less than £39 per member of staff per year.

That would cover the whole school (1500 kids, 425 client devices) for.... • Windows 7 Enterprise Upgrade • Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 • Microsoft Core CAL Suite: (Windows Server® CAL, Microsoft SharePoint® Server Standard CAL, Microsoft Exchange Server Standard CAL, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager Client Management License) Which would mean for our Server 2008 R2 and SCCM servers all devices on site will be covered for CAL's as well? You'd be correct in your thinking . Our current schools agreement costs for the Desktop Pack is around £25-26/pc, while Desktop Pack w/Ent CAL is around £31/pc. From what I've heard (and from seeing Campus pricing which is FTE) we can expect that pricing to likely double, although it could be even higher.

Well if the current schools agreement desktop package is around £25 then for our school based on devices it would be around £10,625 per year! Based on that i assume that for it to be cheaper than the older agreement it would need to be less than £70. I know the school wont pay more than 5k per year for this so im hoping its along the lines of £30-£35

I can't remember what the unit costs were for the various things you could order under schools agreement as we were always well over the 100 unit minimum! 1

However one thing I think that is compleat madness is full time member of staff classed as 200 hours per year. Our cleaners do more than that surely this goal post need to be moved? Am I the only one who thinks this is crazy?

Am I the only one who thinks this is crazy? It only applies to those who have access to IT equipment.

The American (?) FAQ gives the following formula which, to my mind, makes far more sense: Total faculty/staff FTE = Full-time faculty + (Part-time faculty / 3) + Full-time staff + (Part-time staff /2) Although where faculty and staff are defined in relationship to schools is a different matter, presumbly faculty are teachers and assistance, and staff anyone else?

Except the 200 hours part is what's used to define 'full time'.

Can I work 200 hours a year and be classed as full time and still keep my current wage I dont think so full time is at least 30 hours a week to me, and yes before comments come back I do do more than 30 hours a week

Campus pricing is about 20% higher than Schools per unit, if they base it on this, EES'd be about £35 for desktop. Also, I see that there looks to be a limitation? Minimum initial order of 300 units. It's definately 200 hours I'm afraid: "In EMEA, counting FTEs for EES remains the same as it is in Campus Enrollment today. FTE Employees = faculty and staff who work more than 200 hours per year." And actually, all our staff won't bring us up to the minimum 300 Unit's order for just the Desktop pack Edit: Never mind, worked out some extra goodies I can have to meet 300. Cache Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I need to follow this up with a phone call, but an email I sent out just before I left has had a reply. I've been told that to set up an agreement, you need to purchase atleast 100 Education desktop pack (so an FTE of 100) and then any additional products you want/need are licenced on a per licence basis. I can understand the minimum order of 100 desktop licences, but then the second part seems to defeat the whole point of the FTE count (or am I missing the point?). Don't know if anyone else has heard anything along those lines yet or not?

deano Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 What can i do if my agreement falls short? We have had our reminders and currently awaiting quotes to come back but i do not want to sign up for a new agreement with the new licensing arriving a month later!

Robbocop Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Just echoing points covered in this post. Pricing has now been released and it looks very good. We think the vast majority of schools will save money. One of the MS guys told me at BETT that if anyone's existing agreement is due to end before EES starts next month you can ask them to extend your existing agreement to cover you rather than being forced to take out another year of the existing plan. They were hoping to do that extension for free. Work At Home rights are included free, and since the EES scheme is covered by Software Assurance, you will still be able to invoke the Home Use Program to buy low cost licences for staff if you want to. HUP gives a lot more freedom in terms of what staff are allowed to use it for. If you already have a School or Campus Enrolment it looks like you automatically qualify for EES should you want it, and schools who haven't been involved in this type of scheme before just have to have a minimum number of systems in school. That's still slightly unclear, but so far we haven't had any problems.
