Obviously I am aware of Little Miss, but how many other women techies do we have here?

I work in HE and there are two of us, and about 20 guys. One of our researchers is undertaking a project to address the gender imbalance in terms of the women entering the computing and IT industries. I have been asked to get involved in this project for obovious reasons and would like to see how many women techies there are in education.

I don't think we've a gender field do we?

Apparently not, but that's the only way the admins would be able to do it. Perhaps a simpler way is to create a poll allowing female members to log their vote. This would obviously only show female members that are active on the forum, but then if you got the total number of active members you would be able to work a ratio somehow.

Given that the average poll gets about 0.5% of the membership, I'm not sure that it would be a statistically useful exercise :-)
