Ben_Stanton Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 The only 'surprise' I found was lack of a decent toy. It was some pre-formed plastic octopus crap. I remember the days when you used to build proper things, like a bike or a replica car (which I'm sure I could sit in). Plus, the eggs were so much bigger! I had to buy another 3 just to check! In all but one, it was some pre-formed junk - the other 'surpsise' I had to 'assemble' had 3 parts. Top middle and bottom! Sorry. Rant over. Choc still tastes gooooood!
webman Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Plus, the eggs were so much bigger! Because you and your hands have grown since "the days" which makes you perceive them smaller 8)
mrforgetful Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Ah the ads..."It's three surprises in one" What are they? 1) It has something inside but what it will be is not known - fair enough 2) 3) Yeah, just like I thought, it's one surprise.
MkII Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 1) It's chocolate! 2) and white chocolate inside!! wow 3) and a toy inside! (they used to be so good tho' didn't they - in comparison. We once had a jumbo christmas one containing a cristmas tree bagatelle game)
monkey_boy Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 White inside??? Is that a good suprise?? RACIST!!!! :P
john Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 I miss kinder eggs (rushes off to the all-nite store to go get some ) The best toy I got once was one of the big easter ones they do, it had a baby lamb in it (I hear you all say awww how cute ) I called it Lamb Chop
NetDiag Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 If they are crap here in the UK then try and get one abroad! I'm sure if you went over to Afghanistan and purchased one there you would get a sadistic choice of Bin Laden head knocker, 'Jihad' keychain fob or even a 'build it yourself' rocket propelled grenade launcher!

It's a chocolate thing item that's not a surprise.

You can't there apparently they are like gold in usa due to them being banned http://blog.washingtonpost.com/thecheckout/2006/04/an_unpleasant_easter_surprise.html Russell

And judging by this page http://www.magic-kinder.com/mkv2/changeLanguage.html quite and international selling company.
AshF Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 The last time I bought a Kinder Egg was during a two week vacation in Amsterdam with a group of friends where we were all staying in a holiday flat. As the one most capable of finding his face I was sent on a late night shopping run for vital supplies. I returned with a massive slab of marble cake, 6 Kinder Eggs, two bottles of diet coke and a couple of large chips that i bought from a kebab shop I accidentally wandered into. I never consumed one of the Kinder Eggs however, as I was too busy with my wonderful discovered combination of Jam sandwiched between two small slices of cake. I couldn't work out why noone had thought of this before. Ah, memories....

BKGarry Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Well kinder eggs in Amsterdam, I wonder what what the suprise inside them, did they end up giving your extra muchies?
AshF Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I can't remember what was in them, other than the general consensus was that they weren't as good as they used to be. Also Wagon Wheels used to be bigger, Wotsits used to be cheesier, and we all missed red smarties. Then someone found a copy of Fantasia in the video library, and I listened to Pink Floyd on my iPod whilst it was on, and discovered that whilst it didn't sync in a Dark Side of the Moon/Wizard of Oz style, the colour of saxaphone (in shine on you crazy diamond) is green.
BKGarry Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Curley Wirleys where deffo longer last year, and fags and beer was cheaper
Gatt Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Curley Wirleys where deffo longer last year, and fags and beer was cheaper Think I missed that part about Curly Wurly's in Gordo's Budget speech!!
AshF Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Curly Wurly's now have to obey a specific EU guideline regarding the ratio of Curly to Wurly, which whilst creating a more uniform confectionary, does result in a small gross average size. Ok, so i'm making this crap up, but what if i wasn't.
SpuffMonkey Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I used to share an office with a lad who was addicted to Kinders - and got me hooked as well - we used to get trays of 2 dozen each lunchtime and make up the toys and give the (frankly rather nasty) chocolate away. By the time I left the job we had several large carrier bags of lpastic toys to take away. On getting home my missus took me to task about it - and I did actually feel pretty silly at wasting all that money on silly plastic toys...
ChrisC Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Bet the kids loved coming to your office for help at lunch! Chris
amyr Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 after reading this thread yesterday i had to go buy myself a kinder egg...could i open the toy inside...nope! gave up in the end and just ate the chocolate!
SpuffMonkey Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Bet the kids loved coming to your office for help at lunch! Chris Ah no - I was a Systems Manager for a big legal firm in those days - and the lawyers didn't want to play...unless they could charge for it in 6 minute chunks...
Zoom7000 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Back in the day (80's) when Kinder Eggs cost more than my weekly (even monthly) pocket money... You used to get some really decent toys! I remember my fav was a motorbike that had a little motor that I'd get every so often. But 50p in the 80's was a very expensive Kinder Egg. Nowadays you get some stupid molded cartoon character that no one has ever heard of. It's only worth it for the unique chocolate. Those were the days! Look at me, getting nostalgic at 24!
