I get all servers with HP ILO or Dell DRAC in now so I can turn them on again :p

Also useful to have bios level access remotely though for vmware upgrades and OS installs etc.

Yep, they're great, unless of course you send a switch config meant for another switch to the one with the DRACS plugged into it....

Couple of weeks ago, deleted my whole, not backed up, Users folder from my work PC, with all my Documents on it. Those who've used Successmaker know it creates a load of stupid folders in the root of C: which don't all go when you uninstall, so I Ctrl+Click and Shift+Del the lot of them. Then my profile went very weird. Still used to Documents and Settings on XP!

Thankfully Shadow Copy saved every last scrap of it, and I now have a scripted backup to the servers!

Yesterday - RDP'd into our Terminal Server to change a ssetting, but had to disable the TCP-rdp connection

Only to get the dialog box saying the session had been ended

Luckily I had the vSphere client installed so could re-enable it

Over half term I was staying with a friend and i came to use my netbook and it turned on for a second then made a funny noise and turned off. with all the modifications id made to it i assumed something had broken inside so i took it to pieces (using the very limited tools in her room) then after 15 minutes remembered that her extension lead has switches for each plug...

Nice shade of Cyan that! Magenta might have gone better with the shirt! :D

How are the cleaning skills?

Ouch!

Managed to get my hands covered in ink on Monday. Took an unhealthy (hides from the H+S police) dose of graffiti remover and about 3 days of scrubbing every chance I got to get rid.

I hve had an OKI Magenta Cartridge spill out all over me whilst changing it.. the locking lever was shipped in the "open" position so when I tipped it up to insert it, I got covered in toner..

From the state of my hands and clothes, and the surrounding area, it looked like I had been doing open heart surgery on the printer.....

'Cupboardy'?.. Please demonstrate the use of this word in a sentence so that we can decide whether or not it should be a word! :D

Cupboardy, as in cupboard like. This server room is very cupboardy.

I once had a bit of a mishap when planning a timed reboot of one of our servers... I have a batch file that uses the sleep utility and net send to send warning messages around the network before using the shutdown command to reboot. Unfortunately I'd forgotten that the sleep utility wasn't installed on the server I wanted to reboot, so it rebooted a bit quicker than expected!

I did the EXACT same thing last year with a konica 5570 (I think)... didn't have any spare toner for it and they were desperate to print, so I thought, I'll just give it a shake. It was 9.30AM :-(

Managed to lock myself out of a cisco switch once and had to get someone from the other side of the world to get into it and 'unlock it'

That was embarrassing.

Done the reboot instaed of logging off many times (unfortunately).

A cracker I did just last year was, we were clearing out some old network cabling out of some switch cab and went to cut a tie wrap with some cutters. Yep cut through the network cables instead(on ladders, full stretch, round the back of the patch panel). Killed that section of the network for a few hours!

Have you noticed that you somehow just know that you are pressing the wrong keys/it says are you sure and it shouldn't, yet you still press ok?

You hear this voice in your head scream NNNOOOOO!

but you just can't stop yourself from doing it.

Our technician also had an unfortunate incident with the cyan toner in an OKI printer. His new name became Avatar or Papa Smurf thereafter :)

Sadly, no photos :(
