Boredguy Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I had CSS Media call regarding the chocolate today and then offering to send me a toner which would fix the price for the year. Reiterated several times to the poor girl that they could send me a quote but no products until they received an official order. Somehow I doubt that my bar of chocolate that needed a security code will appear.... but alerted reception to reject any delivery from them anyway.

Dear xyz Just to confirm and thank you for your order of, 2 x Toner Compatible HP - Colour Laserjet CP2025 Black at £245 per toner Your order will be sent for your attention and invoiced as discussed. told the office to refuse to accept delivery - I'm fuming right now
Matt-j Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Had a guy called James Goddard phone me about a month ago, from Global Imperial Solutions.. seems they are still up to their old tricks. I'm fairly new in the IT industry so i was absorbing his lies like a sponge.. i got offered shirts, i refused as i don't like football, then he offered vouchers, also, lunch on his business card, "the boss has let him go wild with his card".. i accepted his "free" toner and the vouchers.. he had given me a code that would be used to obtain the vouchers on delivery.. and told me an "Essex Broad" also he mentioned she was "fit" will phone me the following day about the toner.. She rang me the next day, claiming that i had ordered a toner for £275, at this point i knew it was utter turd, i claimed this was mentioned as free and refused to accept this and claimed if sent it would not be paid for, she didnt seem happy, but insisted that a brochure will be sent with their products in... im still waiting.. bizarre. Matt.
Quackers Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Cannot believe they are still doing this 10 years on, as i had Millennium call with the same line back in 2004.
Matt-j Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Guess it shows people are falling for this nonsense for them to be still using the same technique. or maybe they are just stupid.. either way, annoying calls nonetheless.
Garacesh Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 (edited) I had CSS Media call regarding the chocolate today and then offering to send me a toner which would fix the price for the year. Literally the exact same thing just happened to me, same company (Assuming you made a typo and meant CCS Media). Loud party music in the background (which I suspect is intentionally to make the recipient miss parts of the conversation), free chocolate, suddenly: toner. Somehow they have my details as NM (which I am not) and know that we use HP printers. Chocolate, yadda yadda, our toner costs thirty-something, we'll fix that price for a year. We'll send you some toner. So I said bluntly "This will sound rude, but I'm aware of toner marketing scams. This toner you're sending, are we expected to pay for it?" Lady seemed flustered that I'd cottoned on as she hadn't made it apparent that this wasn't a free sample (though I felt she was trying to make it seem like it was). I told her under no uncertain terms that she was not to send us anything (but have told reception to reject it if it does show) as we had not asked for anything and did not wish to purchase anything. She then tried to get my boss' details . Not. A. Chance. Told her that after I tell him what she'd just tried to pull with me, there's zero chance he'd even pick up the phone to them. She sounded disappointed. Good. Underhanded scammy little swines. Edited July 2, 2015 by Garacesh
Tonermoaner Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 They're still at it. I've been dealing with them since 2005 and the patter never really changes. Under CCS media now. Offering chocolate and trying to send toner I haven't requested. Funny thing is they still have our old address, demolished in 2008. My favourite calls were when I had three in the same day. Apparently each time they called, the person before had been promoted to their L.A. branch. They stopped calling for a while when I asked to work there so I could be promoted too. I plan to waste their time when ever they phone. If they're ringing me, the can't ring anyone else.
Boredguy Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Yes had the same CCS Media call yesterday yet again celebrating winning the contract for the UK Chocolate manufacturers (though I'm not sure who they could be referring so since the major one is US owned now) The operator was most shocked when I cut off her monologue to be "amazed" that they won the contractor twice in a fortnight and we were not interested. "What you don't want free chocolate?" Pointed out that it was classed as a bribe and to remove all our contact details... next time they call (and it's easy to detect due to all the noise in the background) I may just put them on hold and see how long it takes them to hang up.
Tonermoaner Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Hah! the same lady rang me. They were going to send the price by email, funnily it never arrived. She kept saying they had problems with their email and wanted me to commit on the phone. I just kept saying they needed to email me. Days later - still no email.
localzuk Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Really surprised that CCS Media are engaging in these tactics!!
Boredguy Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Really surprised that CCS Media are engaging in these tactics!! In all fairness to CCS media (which you may use), it is entirely possible that this scam company are just claiming to be them, as over the years they have used other company names all with the same script. 1
ZeroC001 Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) Just had CCS Media on the phone. Had never heard of them before but got a slight red flag when they provided me with a tracking number for a chocolate bar that I know doesn't match the format of the company they claimed to be sending with(checked it later and surprise, surprise it didn't work). She also pretended she already had my details on file and was "updating them" but I've only been in this role a couple of weeks so that's impossible. I'm fairly sure one of the sales girls told her who I was before transferring the call. I am looking for toner quotes at the minute so I offered to email them a list of our printers so she could provide some. She also offered to send me a "free" toner to "fix the price" on a quote she gave for one of our printers, which I of course strongly refused. No reply yet, bet after reading this I don't think we'll be going with them either way. Edit: Forgot to mention it sounded almost like there was a party going on in the background: blaring music, loud voices, etc. Reading other reviews of this company it sounds like a common occurence when recieving calls from them. Very weird. Edited June 7, 2016 by ZeroC001 Additional details

Very weird. CCS Media as a company are being very unfortunately tarnished by the apparent underhand tactics from some of their sales staff it would seem. Our account manager at CCS is top notch and indeed they are in our top 3 suppliers we use at the school, and have done for 5yrs now. I understand that there seems to be a particular team that are giving them an unfavourable name by these cold/unwanted calls, which is a shame as we have had very positive experience with the company. Either that or another company is using their name in vain, although admittedly that is rather unlikely and would open a huge can of worms!
Garacesh Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Woooow.. CCS Media are still going. Didn't catch the lady's company at first, but as soon as she mentioned HP toner, I asked her again who she was calling from. "CCS Media". "Ah, OK then. No thank you." *click*
