OK if you are a bloke but I don't really want shoulders like a prizefighter thanks!

I do about 150 sit-ups a night which certainly helps.

But ladies, or gents, if you want a flat tummy then sit-ups alone won't do it. The way that works, although it takes some time, is to suck your gut in as hard as you can for initially 30 secs and slowly increase to sets of I min each. In order to check that you have got your muscles tight, put your hands on your waist and then cough - you will feel the muscles pull in - THAT is where they are supposed to be.

Takes about 6 weeks to see results but you can do it wherever you are and don't have to stop working!!

Burpees are your enemy!

Turned up the difficulty on my kinect workout and now its adding mountain climber and burpees in large amounts and fast along with push-ups in between and much more intense cardio warmups including long on the spot jogs and "tire drill"

Drink LOTS of water, I've had about 2/3 litre so far this morning, Breakfast at 7.30 and just drink water when I feel hungry

Doesn't taste like a doughnut though, does it?

True *sigh*

Why is it that reading everyone's inspirational tales of weight loss makes me feel fat and unhappy?

I DON'T need to lose weight. I DON'T need to lose weight...:(

I don't NEED to lose weight, I choose to lose weight as I feel unhealthy and unfit. I'm sure this time next year i'll be doing exactly the same thing after putting weight back on gradually throughout the year.

I went from 17st 11lbs (Sept 10) to 14st 5lbs now (Feb 11) and it still slowly going down.

I eat/drink what i want, no stupid/silly diets that are not sustatinable for life.

Most evenings i have the deep fat fryer going  or a takeaway. During the day i am eating crisps/chocolate and normal tasty coke, not that diet rubbish that tastes nasty.

Just follow Paul McKenna's i can make you thin, it works, and it makes sense.

I was stupid enough to believe years ago you had to go on diets to lose weight, and thats half the reason i put weight on.

How did you manage that? Im not eating realy healthy and not doing loads of workouts and exercise and its coming of pretty well, over a stone in 7weeks is a good enough pase I think! Went out for a curry last week, had a chicken chow mein from the takeaway last week too and went out to the pub last night. Just doing things like jacket potatoe insted of chips, grilled chicken breast instead of beef burger etc....

And not snacking between meals, I have a choccy bar im having with a cup of tea now but its a 80cal timeout bar, just as nice as other choc but without the cals there. Lunch ill have a turkey sandwich and some hot soup :) No need to diet hard as its only going to do you harm and you wont keep it off!

No,I mean I really don't need to - am the correct size - some might say slim - I also do a lot of exercise and so am quite fit too.

I just read all these posts and think that I ought to be doing it!

As for what is a diet - there are two things you have to do to lose weight - eat less and move more - it's as simple as that - but the best way is through lifestyle changes like having a jacket pot instead of chips, and walking to work - then you might keep those changes up in the long term

Yay go my input :p I much prefer them now! Chip shops don't do them tho :( and if they did they would be battered.

Jacket, grilled chicken breast and some peppercorn sauce is becoming a popular one for dinner, low cals, low fat high protein, filling, cheap and tasty!

Ok well since starting this thread, ive also started going to the gym (1 hour a week so far) My fitness is getting a bit better, ran a whole 1KM on the treadmill the other day haha!

my weight fluctuates between 92KG on a monday, to 95KG on a friday, but I still cannot get it down to the target 90kg.

But since xmas my eating habits have slipped back to beer and pizza... I need to get back on the wagon.. but Im still happy im not the 102KG I was when I started the thread!

Nice improvement, my target is 85KG, 111KG atm started at near 118kg tho! Id recommend doing more then 1 hour a week tho where possible, I aim for around 3-4hours exercise per week.

Is everyone still sticking to their diets/routines then? :D

Ive lost 19lbs so far, down to 108.5kg so its going pretty well, still not joined the gym, need to work on strength workouts as ive been doing just cardio, need to improvemt muscle :p

Still sticking to diet and workout, a little disappointing with weight loss as i;ve only lost 4lb in the last 3 weeks, but am training loads: 3 times a week circuits, play rugby on a Saturday and try to do 1 2 hour mountain walk/climb a week. My fitness has come on loads, lost inches off waist etc but not much weight. I realize some of my fat is turning to muscle but there's a lot more fat to go ;)

Ive only lost a couple of lbs in the last few weeks too but ive noticed it on my waist! My scales also do the bodyfat % but they havnt changed at all, still around 48-49% that I was at almost 20lbs ago. Ive been told it could be me burning muscle but I dont believe that as ive been doing workouts and eating plenty including plenty of protein. I've also been told scales bodyfat readers are very inaccurate and not to worry!

Yep... 14lb lost and have now stabilised at a weight I'm happy with. I'm continuing with the exercise and eating plan and am much fitter now.

I've only skimmed through this thread so not sure if it has been mentioned, but it's not all about weight. I've recently started exercising again after breaking a bone in my ankle nearly 4 months ago and am finding it very difficult. I put on a little weight as lack of mobility and christmas tend to do that to you, but that is not what concerns me. It's how I feel when I am a little active. I can feel that my strength is not what it was, and my fitness has plummeted. When I mention things like diets, my girlfriend always assumes that I think I'm fat and want to loose weight, but thats not it....I just want to eat healthier and feel better especially after a few months of eating comfort food.

I dont really know what I am rambling about, but just remember that you may not loose much weight(or even none at all) for weeks/months at a time, but if you eat right and exercise right, you can see improvements in other areas. Only having a target weight as a goal can sometimes make you loose track of why you are trying to loose weight as it can distract you from the real aim here...namely to feel better and not get out of breath by walking a flight of stairs. The weight will take care of itself as you gradually increase your activity and the change the amount of food to either less or better than what you used to eat. I might not be overweight, but I am heavier than I want to be. However, I do know that if I continue to train and eat right then the weight will come off as my fitness improves and I am more active generally.

I've lost well over 2.5 stone in six months.

I had some stomach trouble back in September time so I wasnt eating much. After that my stomach obviously contracted and now I can't eat anything near as much as I did before. Most days I'll only have a bowl of porridge between waking up and dinner at night.
