Ive heared lots of things about spice and chilli helping your metabolisum and weight loss. Im pretty addicted to nandos peri-peri and have started to buy cheaper other branded peri-peri sauce, basically a sauce with birds-eye south african chillies, the hot and extraextra hot are the best tho :) And a nice flame grilled chicken breast in a chilli marinate is always a healthy meal packed with protein and with a few veg on the side

What are you doing at the gym...if you do what are known as explosive burnout workout...work out legs, chest and shoulders in 1 work out, no more than 30 minutes total. (Google search the workout to tailor it to your needs).

You will burn up to 50 calories more per hour for up to 48 hours after your workout! So a total of 2400 calories additional to your workout over 2 days. That's 2/3 of a lb in weight loss!

Apparently drinking very cold water increases your metabolism as your body has to work hard to raise the temperature of the water to body temperature

I tend to do around 10min on a moderate working up to high intensity on the rowing machine as a warmup then treadmill 20mins starting around 6KMph for 3mins then abit faster then around 11KMph for about 10min then cool down to a fast walk/slow jog then sprint a little again until the time is up at 20min, on a tired day I will just keep fast walking around 6.5KMph on a heavy incline which feels easier and burns a little less but still gets my heart rate up to around 160bpm.Then the machine will cooldown for around 4mins to decrease my heartrate (using HRM on machine). Ill often do some cross-trainer for 15mins or cycle at a hard intensity.

I only do weights twice a week to stop aches too much and I often have protein shakes now before strength workouts, 4 sets or 10 reps on all machines, some abit more.

Lat pulldowns 35lbs

Bench press 45lbs

Seated press 40lbs (find this harder then bench)

Peck deck 35lbs

Abdominal crunch 156lbs

Started to add pull-ups in there and im using machines rather then free weights as im often at the gym myself with no spotter for free weights.

I'm now holding at around 10st 4lbs after starting at 13st 9lbs. I managed to keep up a fair amount of cycling (1400miles down since the end of July now!) and started to run on my off days with my friend. My diet remains pretty much the same as my previous post.

I'm starting to get told off for losing so much, but I'm still within the healthy BMI range (5,9 20.9BMI). At the moment I'm not too fussed about it as I know as soon as winter really hits my exercise will drop sharply so I'm unlikely to lose anymore.

I wouldn't mind putting some back on, but it needs to go on as muscle and not fat. That's something I didn't really have much of before but I haven't the faintest idea how to do so, short of joining a gym.

DrCheese - you do sound a bit light but my son is 6ft 1in and only a few pounds heavier - he looks very slim but not skinny - how do you look?

As for putting on muscle - the running and cycling should have done that for your legs.

Google how to build muscle without joining a gym. Basically you are using your own bodyweight as resistance. This site looks quite good:

How to Build Muscle (without Paying a Cent to Join a Gym) - Associated Content from Yahoo! - associatedcontent.com

but there are loads of others.

After not going to weigh in last week (clash with adoption training) we went on Tuesday. We had had a pretty naughty could of days last week and over the weekend, partly due to family being around and partly due to wanting a bit of a breather, and we were both surprised to still have lost weight. My wife knocked off another 4 1/2 lbs and I lost 2 1/2. I am now under 16 stone for the first time in 4 years.

I am giving it another fortnight and then I am going to have to get some replacement clothes too.

Weigh-in tonight ... and we have discovered how difficult it is to stick with it over half-term. Wifey put some on and I maintained where I was.

I was, however, surprised to be met with a big smile by our club co-ordinator as we signed in (before weigh-in) and was presented with the Slimmer of the Month certificate and sticker. Turns out Wifey was a very close second ... still, it has been a prod up the back-side that we need to be careful during holiday periods.

Another 3lbs lost this week, really chuffed :-)

Amazed when I took some measurements, 4" off waist, 5" off chest and most importantly as I suffer from Sleep Apnoea I've lost 2.5" off my neck:cool:

Big grin on my face, cleared out the wardrobe of clothes yesterday that no longer fit because they are TOO BIG!!!! First time in my life I've done that, it's always been getting rid of stuff that was too small before, it's a great feeling. Dropped off 2 big bin liners full at the charity shop after work today:cool:
