Dos_Box Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 The sandwhich van has just been and as I like to eat lunch early I selected (for the first time from them) an small cheese and onion pasty. Normally a pretty 'hard-to-get-wrong' type of food, but I was left undwhelmed to say the least. A deceptive little foodstoff whoes promise of a warm filling inside covered in puff pastry led me to a cold stodgy mess that taste like it had been made from processed cheese slices. Now my body is telling me to have something nice, but I've had lunch!! Anyone else had a dissapointing lunch recently?
tom_newton Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Off to the chippy at 12. Last two lunches though were "last night's dinner" in a box, and as such were very good
mhussain Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Cheese and Egg Flan, chips and beans and for pudding had a nice chocolate sponge cake with mint custard really enjoyed myself oops sorry this was not a bad lunch but a really nice lunch hahahhaa
Dos_Box Posted October 8, 2010 Author Report Posted October 8, 2010 'Last nights dinner' can be quite good, especially curries when they have time to marinade overnight
Dos_Box Posted October 8, 2010 Author Report Posted October 8, 2010 'chocolate sponge cake with mint custard' I used to love that
HarryMonkey Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Had a delicious bacon and egg roll about 10-30, washed down with a nice cup of tea. Can't beat it. Lunch will be whatever my other half packed up for me last night, but will involve a sandwich, cherry tomatoes, cake, yoghurt and a banana.
tom_newton Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 'Last nights dinner' can be quite good, especially curries when they have time to marinade overnight Little better than day old curry, especially eaten cold
mhussain Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 'chocolate sponge cake with mint custard' I used to love that it was Delicious Especially since I had it after a long time
Rydra Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Doner Kebab and chips is what about about to go and have The food stuffs of (unhealthy and slightly overweight) champions!
tech_guy Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 I'm eating home-made fried rice with egg, loads of red chili, enough garlic to kill a frenchman, spring onions, shallots & red pepper.
ICT_GUY Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Super noodles every lunch time, 30p per day and there is actually nothing bad or good in them. They taste ok and fill you up well. I eat proper food the rest of the week.
apoth0r Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Had a couple of sandwiches for break and now im stuck as to what to do for lunch lol Might have to stick a couple of quid in the cashless catering account and see what the food is like
broc Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 I'm still suffering from last nights dinner, a 'New Yorker' Calzone pizza from Frankie & Bennys ... I have had indigestion ever since.... it was very tasty at the time
AshMan91 Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 I had the worst lunch! My mum forgot the bbq sauce -.-
sister_annex Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Fridays are usually trips to the sandwich in the local town days for myself and the other guys in the office... cant go wrong and can say that today's was pretty good also Mom used to make my sandwiches every day and they were awful so I grew a pair and started making my own now i have only myself to blame if they are rubbish
sister_annex Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 I'm eating home-made fried rice with egg, loads of red chili, enough garlic to kill a frenchman, spring onions, shallots & red pepper. This sounds way too healthy for me Doner Kebab and chips is what about about to go and have The food stuffs of (unhealthy and slightly overweight) champions! This is more like it!!
Haptic Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Say what you may about Aldi....I dip in there for bags of fresh salad (50p each) some cold cuts such as pastrami and some coleslaw...absolute winner! on a side note they sell heavy bags of 'knock off' gourmet jelly beans for 70p and they are AMAZING! Joe
Andrew_C Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 What? No one eating ? Pig-pie and a couple of Mr Kiplings fruit things. Coleslaw and an apple as a tip to "healthy eating". All this is OT, as (most) of it sounds quite appetising. Not sure about snot-noodles though!
tech_guy Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 The worse sandwich I've ever had was made by the girl I was living with at the time - she asked me what I'd like for lunch at work and I said I quite fancied a corned beef sarnie. I got what I asked for - when I opened my lunch box the next day there it was in all its glory. The problem was she hadn't used sliced corned beef - she gone and bought a tin of it, opened it and put the whole thing in one great block between two slices of white bread. And did I mention the tomato sauce? I hadn't asked for tomato sauce but there was enough to float a boat. My work colleagues thought it was hilarious. And did I eat it? Yes and I've hated corned beef ever since. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_izeuni8b49A/S-HOOheQseI/AAAAAAAABEg/tGNNcQNhP-U/s1600/209Corned-beef.jpg
somabc Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 (edited) Two words - Little Chef. Also round where I live there is a cafe (or caff) that serves scrambled egg by breaking the eggs over bread and then microwaving it for 10 mins, and the 2 sausages are 1 sausage cut in half. Strangely it is always busy. Edited October 8, 2010 by somabc

For the rest of the week I got salad sandwiches.
Dos_Box Posted October 8, 2010 Author Report Posted October 8, 2010 The absolute worse meal I've ever had was in N Yorks near Richmond where en-route to Whitby my good lady wife and I pulled over to a small village pub and ordered lunch. I asked for a Cumberland ring with chips and peas. What actually arrived was an unspeakable horror that looked like a dog had gone to the toilet on the plate, peas that had been left to dessicate under a heat lamp and chips that were not quite cooked. It was that bad that Jane actually burst out laughing at it when it arrived. Since then I've never been in a Pubmaster pub (whos chain it was a part of). I've been to wars that had better catering! 1
CAM Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 I have a chip shop near home which sells spam fritters. They look unsightly like a large square of odd coloured batter but you bit into them and sooooooo good. Knocks a few years off your life though. Ironically I just had a very dire lunch, Steak and Cheese panini from BP Garage. It's like biting into concrete and rubber at the same time.
CSNM-Carl Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Had a nice lunch Mine: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs207.ash2/47017_456804416624_611876624_5942759_1072955_n.jpg EduTech's: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs768.snc4/66854_456804976624_611876624_5942762_1425134_n.jpg
torledo Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 nightmare lunch for me is anywhere that microwaves a jacket potato, and follows by doing likewise with your apple pie!!
