Witch - are you sure we're not the same person? lol

My job description and current level of job satsifaction seem to be on par with yours!

Did you get any thanks at the end of term? I didn't not one - yet i've had staff emailing this hol already. As the lone technician in school I almost don't exist, I have to attend TA meetings but am told at every juncture that 'this doesn't apply to you' but never told what does apply. I installed a 22 pc suite on my own and didn't receive any acknowledgement at all!

I'm an IT tech:

Day to day:

General user support and troubleshooting

Backups

VC/AV support

hardware installation/maintainance

Random other stuff i've had to do:

Move big sqaure bales (300kgs...)

Drive pickup trucks

Audio tech for the music dept (things like fixing Korg M1s and the like)

so all in all your average techie job.

Wow ok, so my official title is IT Network Manager. I work for three (very different) primary schools with varying expectations.

School 1: Maintaining the CC3 network (both high level interesting jobs and low level 'get your hands dirty' jobs), assisting the co-ord with future policy/strategy, SIMS, procurement of hardware/software/services, VLE manager, managing the schools assessment provision, use of IT for G&T and SEN kids. I have a lot of involvement with management here which is really good.

School 2: Maintaining the peer-to-peer network that really needs to upgrading due to its size but can I get the money? can I hell! *urg*, assisting the co-ord with future policy/strategy, VLE manager, identifying and compiling quotes for hardware/software/services. Oh and talking the head of his latest whim or fancy (important job that!). Fair amount of involvement with management here.

School 3: Manage the Win Sever domain and FIREFIGHT! Not a great deal of involvement with management here, the school just don't work that way.
