Don't suppose they taken out the damn annoying have you cleaned your filter message have they? or made it configurable.

Teachers don't care about the filter.

***Edit***

Search for: _D3E0C5A24FE87E42AD00A1E69C8BA925 and drop both rows that this appears in they will be.

ISReigistryComponent_ActivFilter <---- shouldn't that be ISRegistryComponent_ActivFilter, typo from the programmers

and a row in the Registry table that is actually called _D3E0C5A24FE87E42AD00A1E69C8BA925

It is still there but you can run the nofilt.exe from the cd.

it is in \support\promethean utilities\

Activ is what all our products are prefixed with, not Active

Activstudio, Activdriver, Activboard.

Hi Dan,

Sorry that was my typo there what I was really referring to was the misspelling of registry.

I'd rather have the msi not install the filter warning as per my workaround rather than have to run another utility.

We have version 3 installed on our staff laptops. Can i just deploy V4 via GPO and sent it out to the laptops?

Does it upgrade or do a new install? Have you tested this senario?

Not having looked at the nofilt.exe yet, can this be deployed?

tosca: I was thinking the same thing as it would be nice to just allocate it to the staff laptop ou then not have to worry about installing it on each new laptop.

I'll test it tomorrow if I get chance.

Dan, what if you have not got the CD to run the nofilt.exe command, is avalable as part of the download / for download from your site, and does it work with older V3 drivers or just the V4 as I have actually got some stable boards now thanks to a good set of V3 drivers and the board firmware updates, so touch wood all is fairly good now, but I would like to banish the filter warning from the V3 if possible.

There are several manual things you need to uninstall driver 2/3

You can do it manually on the machine or.

1. Remove the activdrvservice service from services

2. Remove the contents of C:\program files\activ software\activdriver\

3. Remove the key

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Activcontrol

and

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Activfilter

4. Remove Activdrv.sys and Activdrv_usb.sys from

c:\windows\system32\drivers.

I think you will have to do the above without the board attached and do a reboot to get rid of the service.

Thats the driver, Im not sure about the installshield stuff as that gets everywhere.

Well if you do that you really need to delete the reg entry as otherwise it will be trying to load a non existent program, so you may as well just delete the reg entry.

Ok just tried to allocate the new driver to a machine that has the old one installed and it failed so yes you do need to remove the old one first.

Cheers for that Dan, much appreciated, it will save many many phone calls about the projector needs cleaning, when I only cleaned it 20 seconds ago!

I think i'll give this a miss, unless someone can come up with a script that automates this lot above. Looks like they'll have to wait tiill we recall tehe laptops back in for a updated image. (which i guess will be for Vista anyway)

I take it the driver is compatible with Vista?

No idea, will try it tomorrow though :) I hope so as if its not, and not certified for Vista Windows probably won't let it start at startup and need a manual start, or windows modifying to let it start.

ok I used this to remove 3.03 driver, you can find the product key from the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ACTIV Software\ACTIVdriver\ProductCode

http://support.installshield.com/kb/view.asp?articleid=Q106685

IDriver.exe /M{Your Product GUID} /uninst

They appear to have used v9 for the 3.03 driver

then after running this in a script on out laptops force a reboot and the AD assigned MSi installed perfectly.

Nofilt.exe Complains about the lack of VB40032.dll

Presumably that's just a Visual Basic runtime component - any idea where i can get it please?
