  1. This can be done by using "C:\Program Files\PuTTY\plink.exe" sessionname /sbin/shutdown -h now keep it simple. Dan
  2. Why don't you use a batch file that uses the shutdown command for each server. Therefore not having to install the memory eating program that apc supply on all servers and just one. SHUTDOWN /s /m \\servername /t 120 /d U:6:12 /c "There has been a power failure server now shutting down" Dan Turner
  3. Thanks for that Geoff!!! Everyone else installed with ease?
  4. Hi I have around 10 servers on several sites accross the uk and was wanting to check before going to service pack 2, peoples experience of doing this. We have 4 of the running sql server replication, anyone have something similar If it is going well let me know.
  5. Basically H&S is out the window until the show starts the isle carpet gets laid at 6pm on tuesday evening, before that there is rubbish everywhere that consists of cable, paint, wood, plastic, and to make walking great the backing off sticky plastic, that stuff makes you slide. you can get a cuppa at about 60p and then goes up to about £1.30 There is a butty shop accross the road called franks (If I can remember rightly) which is pretty fair on prices. And theres also pizza express.
  6. You don't pay high prices on Mon/Tues, The prices goes up when the show starts, thats probably to compensate for the health and safety issues on setup.
  7. Cybernerd Elusive driver in progress, we have one that can move the mouse over the screen but do not have any software to go with it, I have been told it will work on anything on kernel 2.6 and above. When we have a way of installing it I will definately consider you for beta testing.
  8. Hi We are being asked more and more about these solutions, has anyone successfully had this working on our or anyone elses make of board? I can imagine that the local usb/serial port could be mapped to the session but I'm not sure how this would effect speed of use as the pen co-ordinates will be going back and forth over the network. Is this this were schools are heading for or are pc's/mac still favourate. I see from the new bett products that the Jack PC will probably get people thinking.
  9. When we get support calls about these kind of problems it is very hard to say it is a network issue and sort it out yourself bye bye, we do try and help to a fashion and it would be good to be well equipped on either making error messages that are more informative to the admin teams and kb articles to back them up and also have a document that explains what my document redirection is and where to look to configure it. Is it habit from the old Novell/NT4 days to have a h drive? Thanks a lot for the hints.
  10. Do you think then that there should be error messages explaining what the exact problem is. eg. "Error 123 There is an invalid path in value called %My Pictures% Please contact your network administrator to resolve this issue?" Rather than the standard vb ones?
  11. The 3 variables are My Pictures My Music Personal Some of the above have been changed to a network location and it maybe that it is an invalid path. The effect of these being not valid is the software will not run, We change them manually and it works but they get changed back again after a Are these paths set by group policy? logon/logoff/reboot. Should software written these days accomodate for these not being valid? Or should the personal variable be always available to the user?
  12. There seems to be random things left in here HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders Maybe from old servers, current servers etc. They are mandatory. Do you think it wise there always be a My Documents variable to be on the safe side?
  13. Hi We have been having a few schools who use a drive letter method of saving work rather than using the My Documents variable. Therefore the My Documents variable is not set. Which method is used most in schools? Does this cause problems with other programs?
  14. There are some changes that are needed to make it run on vista, I will check if we can let the beta out for testing.
  15. Has anyone successfully got vnc to work yet? on vista that is.
  16. That puts media centre at a higher price than it is now @ £63+vat
  17. Tosca There are several manual things you need to uninstall driver 2/3 You can do it manually on the machine or. 1. Remove the activdrvservice service from services 2. Remove the contents of C:\program files\activ software\activdriver\ 3. Remove the key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Activcontrol and HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Activfilter 4. Remove Activdrv.sys and Activdrv_usb.sys from c:\windows\system32\drivers. I think you will have to do the above without the board attached and do a reboot to get rid of the service. Thats the driver, Im not sure about the installshield stuff as that gets everywhere.
  18. John I have attached nofilt.exe (zipped up) nofilt.zip
  19. Ben It is still there but you can run the nofilt.exe from the cd. it is in \support\promethean utilities\ Activ is what all our products are prefixed with, not Active Activstudio, Activdriver, Activboard.
  20. I said I would let you all know when the driver 4 went on the web. http://www.mypromethean.com/uk/server/show/nav.598 I have attached changes from driver 2/3 ***Edit*** It is now signed by microsoft!!!!!!! ***Edit*** activdriver_4_changes.doc
  21. Ok Got word back you can buy from any reseller you are happy with. You will need serial numbers, so it maybe worth getting them before phoning, these can be found on the pen holders or on very early boards on the back.
  22. It works very well on the core and core2 apples we get a rating of 4 on the mac book pro core. I wish I could have waited to upgrade my laptop to a mac book / pro. Oh well will have to work out who I can palm my dell off to.
  23. I don't care about OEM licenses. I don't use them. Do you get pc's without OS's on them Geoff?
  24. Wonder why they missed out ME hmmm??? You get a person with ME you send them to pc world to buy an upgrade of xp as soon as you see the me bootup screen.
  25. Do you think this will be covered in the oem license as does xp Use of Previous Version Of SOFTWARE. If the COA which accompanies the HARDWARE identifies the SOFTWARE as Microsoft Windows XP Professional SOFTWARE, then in lieu of installing and using Microsoft Windows XP Professional SOFTWARE, you may install, use, access, display and run the same language version of ONE (1) of the following versions: Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Professional, Microsoft® Windows® NT Workstation version 4.0 or Microsoft® Windows® 98 (Second Edition) ("Downgrade Software") on the COMPUTER, provided (1) you agree that Downgrade Software support will NOT be provided hereunder by Manufacturer
