Gatt Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Thanks DB - will update my calendar (aka the Wife!!) lol
MattMitchell Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Who are the speakers, and what are the timings like?
Ric_ Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Who are the speakers, and what are the timings like? The day will likely be 9am-4pm or thereabouts. We havent finalised the list of speakers yet... if anyone wants to talk, feel free to contact me! We will endeavour to keep a similar format to the last conference with long breaks between presentations which allows time for networking. We will also try to make the conference available on the 'net for those that can't make it down.
Joedetic Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Money permitting I should be able to come, so I'm going to do my hardest to earn some cash so I can go I'll be done with uni by that point (YAY!!!) so there's no commitments there.
john Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 We will also try to make the conference available on the 'net for those that can't make it down. Is that a request for my big HD Camcorders from work Ric and the boom Mic?
Soulfish Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Surely the offer of a holiday with a load of computer-types in Chorley is every woman's dream? Well I asked and she said no . I have been told that I can come however - provided that I actually book the long weekend that I promised a while ago
rh91uk Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 School Holidays so going to try and make it up there In the calendar ......
john Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Oh Ric, I'm happy to be Badge Man this year if you let me have the template
bizzel Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Sounds brilliant - I'd love to come but I have second year final exams that day (the last one, as luck would have it!). Hope everyone has fun there!

john Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Well, alas I've checked the dairy and I've got no choice but to miss out again I've got to repatch my comms cabinet - oh joy of joys! That sounds almost as bad as I can't go out to dinner tonight I'm washing my hair hehe But with IT guys its a very valid reason
gaz350 Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Would like to confirm awaiting on the outcomes of our IT Tender process before I can commit.
Little-Miss Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Well, alas I've checked the dairy and I've got no choice but to miss out again I've got to repatch my comms cabinet - oh joy of joys! Do you often consult the cheese and milk? 3
tmcd35 Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Do you often consult the cheese and milk? Oy! you! - back to the pedants thread - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/53104-pedantic-geeks-campaign-real-grammar.html Grrrrrrr. Evenone knew what I ment.
danieldainty Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Right, sorry, bad news. Due to a family commitment I have just been reminded of, I'm going to have to shift the conf to the 2ndof June. I apologise for this, but there is no way I could remain married and do the conf on that date Ah. Being the wife's birthday, I will know what the diary(/dairy) will say back to me when I ask her what we're doing on that day. I will have to refrain from signing up, much for the same reasons as for why Dos_Box changed it! Shame, would have been nice to come and finally say hello to some people who I've been following on twitter for some time now (sounds sinister when put like that).
Hollie1985 Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 would absolutely love to come and see all you EduGeekers but the 2nd of June I am in Cyprus :-( :-)
spc-rocket Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Hi, I'm sure this has been asked before, but why is the conferance always in the north? I like to have it central somewhere i.e. Birmingham where everyone can get to fairly easily via trains, buses or car etc. Please before anyone says that trains are cheaper and so are the hotels- STOP!, that is not the point i'm making. Ash.

Ash. We usually attempt to have more than one conference. In fairness, the Chorley one is easy for the admins so that never gets bumped. Chorley is also pretty much half way up the length of the UK (we have members from the south west of England up to the north east of Scotland). In previous years, we have also run conferences in central London and Corby. We tried to run one near Bristol I think too, but that had to be cancelled. This year we also hope to hold a conference in or near Edinburgh. Next year the second conference should be somewhere in the south. Ultimately, it depends on where we can get reasnoable conference facilities. We will never charge for the conferences so we have to find somewhere affordable.
beeswax Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 You see what happens when I post - spouse comes in and says 'we' need to look on the interweb for cottages and such, when for? Spring Bank week oh well it was a nice, if fleeting, thought. Thurnham Hall, Ellel There you go. Can recommend it.

Fair enough Ric but it would be would good if the conferances are rotated so next year it will be somewhere different and this gives the chance to people to attend more conferances - this again is entirely dependant on availability of course. Ash.
Soulfish Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Is there a group booking/group rate being organised with the hotel or is it a case of just book in now yourself?
