I don't understand. I use Spotify and never had an invite; have I missed something obvious?

They introduced an 'invites only' system a while back. So only those who are in can invite others.

Indeed - the Beta was invite, and the origional service was invite only. Users who signed up then got ten more invites without having to pay. Then they opened it up to anyone, it got popular, so they restricted it again, so users with invites now are premium users (no ads, and the ability to use mobile clients) and peopel who had invites left over from the origional incarnation.

I'm rather tempted by premium as aparently it will cache songs on your iPhone (and probably other deivces) and let you listen when you've no net connection - need to look into this a little bit though!

Yep. There's also an Android app which caches. I use it all the time. For £9.99 a month, its a bargain really!

Note - i've now got 4 invites left.

I've got 10 Invites for Spotify cached. Anyone wants one, drop me a PM with an e-mail address.

Yeah they've really closed the hole, one needs an invite to use Spotify for reals. I was looking for an invite for a musician friend of mine who became a father yesterday and has to spend time at home - this gift would be greatly appreciated! If any of you have xtra invites, I'd be more than grateful...

If they are in Germany, it doesn't look like invites are available there yet. On the sharing page it states "You can invite friends to Spotify Free if they live in Sweden, Norway, Finland, the UK, France or Spain."

So, an invite for my friend would still be most appreciated...

I can vouch for this - they released the Symbian version of the app a few months back and I'm now hooked. I have a few hundred songs cached at any one time, and when I'm in range of any open Wi-Fi it just connects through that.

The premium service is definitely worthwhile, and you can know that you're doing your part to stop the service from crashing and burning as not financially viable.
