sonofsanta Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Just got the email round from Serco about 10.1 (coming 26th April, just after a school holiday when I'd like to install it ) and there's some pleasing news in there: Facility ePortal v10.1 will support Internet Explorer 8. About flipping time! Always been an annoyance that security is lessened by our need to stick with 7 to be on the safe side... EDIT: ...why did I spell shock as schock? Too much time speaking German, scheiße!
Michael Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 They don't support FF officially either, but e-portal actually works better in FF in my opinion, but what do I know
sonofsanta Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 They don't support FF officially either, but e-portal actually works better in FF in my opinion, but what do I know I'm sure they do - I've seen something somewhere, I just can't find it now to quote it EDIT: just found it @ http://s3.parature.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=1866 (will need to log into Firstline) Version 09.2 of ePortal will not support Internet Explorer 8. The following web browsers will be supported by version 09.2: Internet Explorer – versions 6 and 7 Firefox – versions 2 and 3
Michael Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Sorry I should of been clearer. I use FF3.5+, which technically is different to FF3.0
john Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 and as you will also have seen in the Feb newsletter they are appealing for BETA testers, so for all of you Serco users who, like me, have a good old rant and rave about the existing testers that "cannot test it to save lives etc" please do think about contacting Serco for the opportunity. In a way its like partaking in the forum, if the knothole isn't shared it won't get fixed / improved so the more of us who rant about common issues on the Beta panel and flag it up as an issue I would hope that it may make a difference. I suspect it will from talking to Serco staff in the past. As for the release date I have already emailed them about that as it is once again in term time by just missing a holiday.....
NickBuckel Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Following on from John's post - the email address to apply for beta testing is [email protected]. Also, Michael - firefox 3.5+ is supported - I will get the hardware spec updated accordingly. Nick
ChrisJ Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Just hope it's not as painful an install as builds 29 & 30 have been. Nearly drove me to madness!
eduabncs Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Just hope it's not as painful an install as builds 29 & 30 have been. Nearly drove me to madness! So that was why you were off?
ChrisJ Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 So that was why you were off? Not a clue what you're talking about. I've not been off. Sure you got the right person?
NickBuckel Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Just got the email round from Serco about 10.1 (coming 26th April, just after a school holiday when I'd like to install it ) Another advantage of being a beta tester is that you will get the release early, so if you would like to sign up you'll be able to get the upgrade done over the Easter break...

ChrisJ Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 I might ask around and see if any Birmingham schools are interested. But going from comments I've heard regarding previous versions there is a serious lack of faith in the product and many are reluctant to even install the official releases.
ICT_GUY Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Most swgfl services wont work with anything other than explorer.
