Just got the email round from Serco about 10.1 (coming 26th April, just after a school holiday when I'd like to install it ) and there's some pleasing news in there:

Facility ePortal v10.1 will support Internet Explorer 8.

About flipping time! Always been an annoyance that security is lessened by our need to stick with 7 to be on the safe side...

EDIT: ...why did I spell shock as schock? Too much time speaking German, scheiße!

They don't support FF officially either, but e-portal actually works better in FF in my opinion, but what do I know :)

I'm sure they do - I've seen something somewhere, I just can't find it now to quote it :(

EDIT: just found it @ http://s3.parature.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=1866 (will need to log into Firstline)

Version 09.2 of ePortal will not support Internet Explorer 8.

The following web browsers will be supported by version 09.2:

Internet Explorer

– versions 6 and 7

Firefox

– versions 2 and 3

and as you will also have seen in the Feb newsletter they are appealing for BETA testers, so for all of you Serco users who, like me, have a good old rant and rave about the existing testers that "cannot test it to save lives etc" please do think about contacting Serco for the opportunity. In a way its like partaking in the forum, if the knothole isn't shared it won't get fixed / improved so the more of us who rant about common issues on the Beta panel and flag it up as an issue I would hope that it may make a difference. I suspect it will from talking to Serco staff in the past. As for the release date I have already emailed them about that as it is once again in term time by just missing a holiday.....

Another advantage of being a beta tester is that you will get the release early, so if you would like to sign up you'll be able to get the upgrade done over the Easter break... :)

Very true :) Annoyingly my LEAs email seems to have gone crappy again so all my emails i've sent for the last 3 days have just been returned! Epic Fail for that again. So will e-mail on Monday Nick as we are interested in it :)

Hi John,

I've added you to the list, we'll be sending out more details later in the week.

Thanks,

Nick

I might ask around and see if any Birmingham schools are interested. But going from comments I've heard regarding previous versions there is a serious lack of faith in the product and many are reluctant to even install the official releases.
