So, im bored with my current car (Audi A3 3.2 V6 Quattro) so Im looking for something different but im a bit stumped with my choices.

So heres a bit of a challenge, find me a car that best meets the following criteria -

Must have more than 200bhp or a 0-60 of around 6 sec or less

Must be quite luxurious

Must not be a "chav" car :p

Must have some street cred

Must be reasonably new (5 years or younger)

Must be up to and around £15k

Must be reliable (ish)

Must be tunable (if lower BHP/diesel)

Must be rare(ish)

Must be able to fit my golf bats in the boot or back seats

There are several cars on my short list -

Audi A5 (too expensive)

Audi A4 3L V6 TDV

BMW 335d Coupe (or 330d)

Golf GTI Mk5

Sirocco (too expensive)

Jag XK8 (4.2 V8 - hmmmm)

Nissan 350z

Can anyone add some more please? :drunken_smilie:

Lets see, I'd ignore anything from the VAG camp if you're bored of the A3. And unless you drive loads or are funding it through a company I wouldn't bother with a diesel.

How about a

BMW 330i or 530i

Some sort of Volvo T5 (should be excellent for the golf bats).

Focus ST

Strange suggestion I know, but I have just got a new Volvo V70 D5 (which I think is about 190BHP standard, but definitely tuneable). When I bought, the dealership mentioned a couple of remaps that agreed with the Volvo warranty and everything.

More than enough room for your golf sticks, very decent performance (even standard), very luxurious as well. Looked at the T5 but they're not that much quicker real world and use a lot of fuel. At the moment I'm averaging nearly 40MPG and drive fairly quickly. Couldn't be happier with mine :D

ST - Too chavvy for my liking (great cars tho ill admit)

Parents drive Volvos (C30 T5 R Design could tempt me)

Hmm, a petrol BMW... im tempted :D

@CHR1S: No V8 Merc on your list? They are a little expensive if you insist on it being as new as that.

Never Liked Mercs... dunno why :p

As an outside option you could look at VAUXHALL Monaro 6.0 V8 VXR, probably pick up an 06 for about 15k, just over 400bhp 0-62 around 5 seconds and lots of car for the money and you certainly don't see many on the roads these days. Not surprising with an engine like that, but it's something to think about. I would if i was bored with mine.

I have had both a T5 Volvo and a D5 Volvo, of the two, the D5 engine impressed me more. How about a C30 D5?

I'm glad you said that, before buying the D5, I did test drive the T5.

As I said earlier in the post, the D5 has much more "useable" performance.

Volvo C30... I like

or if you went quirky (0-60 in 4.5), although you would lose the luxury a Z-Car

Already owned 4 minis so I would pass now, and they arnt very safe!!

It was the D5 that made me realise a few years back that diesels were no longer just for tractors :)

I have a 173bhp Nissan X-Trail now..... it's been very useful in the last couple of weeks, especially the electronic diff-locks. I passed an Audi A5 (with the widest tyres I have ever seen) going nowhere in the snow last Friday :)

Once the weather improves, I will switch back to 2-wheel drive.

Peel P50 with a roof rack?

A true Manx car! I saw those on top gear a year ago. I'd love to have a race in one of those - looked pretty cool (not if you're quite tall though)!

I wouldn't bet it would be anywhere close to the 200bhp, mind :)

I dare say a lot of the options will be around that insurance group. My cars a group 20 and i don't pay much insurance. Go on be a devil ;) lol...
