AWicher Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Ye, I noticed the nexus one on eBay going for way over what I paid. I have not heard of any shortage from Google, only people I can see buying them would be people outside of the shipping areas Google set. Almost tempted to buy another and sell.
yugo Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Did any of you have to pay the 6.5% import duty? Import Fees and Duties : Payments - Nexus One Help
localzuk Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Sssshhhhhh! If you didn't, what usually happens is that Customs bill you for it... I bought a laptop part a while back - $40 for the part, and I ended up paying £30 in tax/duty when it got here...

AWicher Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Having use the iPhone and now android phones, i would have to say nexus one wins (for me). Not to say the iPhone was not good, its just i get what i had from iPhone and more from my hero/nexus. There are some good nexus vs iPhone vids on youtube. 1

neon Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 what are the limitations with buying from the us? I understand the phone is unlocked but does the fact it is us affect the use in uk at all?
AWicher Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 what are the limitations with buying from the us? I understand the phone is unlocked but does the fact it is us affect the use in uk at all? Only thing that really affects us is the previously mentioned US Apple patent on the multi-touch. This will be fixed with a software upgrade for Europe, but no date set as of yet As for network, i don't have HSDPA on my nexus now, only 3G. It still works as i need it, can watch live BBC TV still.
AWicher Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 how long did delivery take? Jan 5th, few seconds after it was live May not be much help, but there is a thread on google support page regarding MT. MultiTouch to come in an Upgrade? - Google Mobile Help P.S. This was DHL record of the order. DHL: Track details Placed order on 5th.
Dos_Box Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 Mine wasn't dispatched until the 8th, 2 days after the order was placed, so, as it was with DHL it may be here tomorrow, in time for my departure for BETT.
somabc Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 BBC News - Complaints greet Google Nexus One phone
MYK-IT Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Multi touch can apparently be enabled, can't find the link at moment....but if i remember correctly involved changing the (boot)rom.
AWicher Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 @Dos_Box Did you get your Nexus? Shame my one was dead on saturday, drained last of the battery trying to find out if i had won a prize. I didn't BTW
Cache Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Mines currently sat in Manchester. What's the battery life like incidently? Heard a few bad things about it...
AWicher Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Well, using #BETT as a guide. Full charge 05:00. Used on train from Preston to London for Bluetooth tethering internet on laptop. Few pics, phone calls, quick video, twittering and died around 14:30 (ish) looking on the edugeek site. Me, I would say that was a bloody good battery. 1
Dos_Box Posted January 18, 2010 Author Posted January 18, 2010 Mine was waiting for me when I got home It's a far, far better phone than the Touch HD. I particualrly like the voice ecognition and the 'Car Mode'. The car mode is so you can stick it in a cradle and use either the voice recognition to activate the sat-nav or make phone calls. There are also extra large icons to make it easy to select the functions if you wish. A very, very tidy phone.
Dos_Box Posted January 18, 2010 Author Posted January 18, 2010 Oh, and if anyone can tell me the screen resolution that would be great. I need to get an EduGeek wallpaper on their ASAP!
