New Years Eve 09/10

Just been asked what I'm upto on New Years Eve... and to be perfectly honest... I don't have the foggiest. Is there anything descent on the box? or suggestions on what to do?

 

It's also due to snow AGAIN apparently... dreading snow... broke laptop slipping on ice last week

I was asked if I wanted to go out for a few in town with some mates but now I have sort of changed my mind, I am at work all day, I really just feel like chilling with a few close mates, I'd rather not have the hang over the following morning.

I'm working New Years Eve, to top the old pay cheque up I am a Site Manger type person and we have a New Years Eve Dance in at work, so its open up (shift snow / ice from paths etc as appropriate) then lock-up etc after then in the very ungodly hours of New Years Day so no celebrating for me with alcoholic drinks this year. (This is all assuming the snow / ice doesn't return again and continues to melt!)

I once read that "if the thought of the morning after put you off the night before"... it was a sign of being middle-aged.

Me too - very bored! Don't drink, so that sort of lapse is not on the cards but I am definitely in the market for some sort of excitement...

 

I hate New Year's Eve - all that false bonhomie - and frankly 2010 looks like it is going to be a pig of a year for me - so I shall just spend the evening quietly with family and friends.

To be honest I always feel more like July is the end of a year and September the start of a new one (with lovely August in between - ahh the joys of term time contracts!) - probably means I've worked in education for too many years!

I'm working till 10pm, then who knows. Probably end up doing nothing. Not really that much of a party animal.

Group of us usually have had a murder mystery night the last few years, all dress up etc, good laugh. This year we are doing something different and are having a Wii party. All dressing up as different sports people etc and will have the Wii set up with a projector. Shoudl be fun:D

Back to the 'rents for me. Spent last W/E with them, but taking my daughter and B/F with me this time. Probably got he too much food route, possibly too much whisky with dad; it is quite traditional. A few of their neighbours will do the "first footing" thing which he introduced to them.

 

Probably have Jools on the box.

Unfortunately I've just been told that we can't get any other staff to work so I'll be working the function room bar for the 18th birthday party we've got in.

 

That's a nightmare because kids just do NOT understand the licensing act and that my personal license cost me a lot of money and I don't want to loose it :@

I do feel middle ages at times, I think its my job!! One of the reasons that puts me off it not been able to drive and seeing as we are around 12 miles from the nearest main town I like to be mobile rather than stuck out here in the sticks!!

This is the thing that gets me when people try to buy under-age they do not understand that not only does the store get fined but the staff member as well. Also stores often fine on top of that fine as well.

Same here with aint got the foggiest although I do have a bottle of JD and some coke so might have that.

 

Sucks about the laptop - did it break the fall ?

Well it kinda did... Glad at actually happened though as I said we didn't have a spare so i've been using the macbook pro until i get the chance of getting on ebay looking for parts. my acer netbook survived without being hurt I'm glad to say
