danIT Posted September 25, 2006 Author Posted September 25, 2006 very very nice, makes my download look feeble!
Dageezah Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 It needs a bit of tidying up - and documentation needs to be created fully - i.e guide on how to use the Nova-T/Sims import bit. But as soon as it is finished I will upload all for you guys to see/use. Has anyone tried to get a username/password for the SQL server for the SIMS database? I assume they will tell us to bugger off but would be handy to automate the import function so that the timetables/room info is up to date at all times.
GrumbleDook Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 They will never tell anyone who wants to tie into SIMS to bugger off ... however, they will say cough up some cash. Cynical? me?
NetworkGeezer Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 I think if you approach Capita they can give you a DLL or ActiveX thingy which will allow read only access to the database. Phil Neal who's the Capita director that looks after SIMS is now a member of EduGeek so perhaps he might be able to give further details.
TechMonkey Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 There is a free API around, a Capita support person mentioned it in response to a support query aboutlinking to the database. It does appear to be tricky to get hold of as you have to make sure you get the right person to ask and give the right response as to why you want it. I am still trying to get it from our LEA support but this mainly becuase the person who has it is in the office about once a week and random times when he is. (though I'm sure that isn't dilerberate)
Dageezah Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 After feedback from teachers, I have improved the booking system as per the screenshot - should be able to finish off documentation and release later this week to the public - if anyone wishes to have a copy let me know.

ChrisH Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 You have some nice features dageezah. If the import isnt too much of a pain I would be interested in checking it out.
BKGarry Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 I am defenatly up for a copy, have had enough of trying to deal with Outlook Public Folders and a 2 week timetable that doesn't keep going through the half terms Bring on your baby,
edie209 Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 It looks nice I woundn't mind trying it too
Jake Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I would be interested in giving it a try too, we've tried a few different solutions and none have yet been quite right.
jazzy639 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 since your talking about all the systems available, here's another one to through on the table: http://www.roombookingsystem.co.uk/demo
webman Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 The Room Booking System is £200 per year with an initial set-up fee of £400. The total price for the first year is £600 and the following years are £200.
jazzy639 Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 ha lol, well we got an email offering 25% off, i think it does a lot for what it costs
plexer Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Yes but it seems that several members offerings including webmans are free and do just as much. Ben
Cowman Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Hi, I've just been reading through this thread but it appears to stop in April 06. Did the app ever get released 'cos I'd be interested in having a look. Ta
Cowman Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 The room booking app that Dageezah was writing
TechMonkey Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 The room booking app that Dageezah was writing Thread stopped in early Oct. I think you did what I always do and end up kicking myself, looking at "Joined date" at the side rather than "Posted" at the top.
bishopsgarthstockton Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Hi webman when is your room booking system going to be available. just signed up on the site... what happens next
