We are in desperate need of a company to install some data cabling before 12th September, all our usual contractors are unable to help at such short notice does anyone know a company either based around lancashire or have nationwide coverage who may be able to help?

Don't use First Class - IMHO they officially suck since messing up a load of work for me - no labels on sockets, missing blanking plates, doing have a job, etc.

What is so important about September 12 anyway?

It’s required for our wind turbine which is to be commissioned on the 12th. No one bothered to tell me the needed CAT5 runs for the data output, it can't be commissioned without it and the grand unveiling is the 12th!

I wouldn't use Connex again, they seem very expensive and there installs are not top class, they are OK, but not worth the costs. (Last place I had dealings with them, they charged about £90 per single point!).

May be worth trying you local sparkly as many of them do Structured cabling installs now if they do work for businesses as well as homes, or get on to the Mills website and get it done yourself.

@Paul: Sounds about right... I did always wonder how it was going to 'talk' to the school. Are United Utilities or the NWA not able to help out with this (they are sponsors of the project after all)?

You could also try Western in Blackpool (you should have their number somewhere - try some of the data sockets ;) ) - I wasn't massively impressed with some of their work but as a one off they should be OK and they are local too.

@Ric_: From a previous experience I swore never to use western again. UU are only funding they would pay for cabling costs anyhow I just need to find someone 2 do it.

Will ring round a few of the sugestions in the morning.

Cheers all

@webman: You may get better installers there than I did, I ripped most of there stuff out at a place I did some work for as it was failing and just not up to my high standards. But were a completly different area so its probably different teams of installers etc...

Call me a network socket snob, but you cannot beat good quality Mills and/or MK stuff and theres was neither. But its like most installation firms you get the ace crews who make the higher prices seem good VFM and those that are at the lower end of life who make there prices seem a rip off.

Hi sorry to hear that you had problems with the data outlets. We offer a 25 year guarantee on our sockets. If they did not work then call us and we will come and fix them. Our outlets are always tested before we leave.

John it comes from knowing the MD personally. As webman says have used them for past 5 years, excellent workmanship throughout everything tested and double checked before they leave site and they tidy up after themselves.

Also have had excellent dealings for ciso managed switches through them, our latest aquisition was for three 3550 48 ports with SX Gbics and enhanced IOS, price was less than 6k, no one else could match them nearest quote was for 8.5k.
