All I need to do now is cover it in laser turrets and have a mile long trench with an obvious reactor core vent installed at the end.

I wonder if anyone has done BSF jokes about the Death Star. Perhaps the flaw was spotted early on but it was somebody else's problem or there was not a committee organised to deal with 'threats against the Death Star by a resurgence of Jedi warriors!'
