A slight downside is the external psu whuch is a bit bulky but we have ours underneath the benches. The only thing to go wrong so far is a faulty psu. A replacement was shipped from Germany and arrived the next morning.

Yeh we got DC7800 Small Form Factor for school admins and Towers for ourselves and we havent got any complaints other then only one with PSU problem... we are thinking of sticking with HP...
Avalon Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 i would recommend the HP DC7900, we went for the USDT small factor version and fix them to the HP workstation stand to keep them nice and neat. we have about 50 in use at the moment with another 25 arriving next week. not looking to change at the moment!

john Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Another HP 7000 series user here, got some nice ones coming next week that are for our Media Studies department and should be ace stuff for them I hope, much better than the existing PCs that should on paper work well but are a bag of spanners! I have about 3 different types of the 7000 series and all of them go like the clappers and seem to be going down well with the users which is great
Batman Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Another HP fan here, I love 'em The best suite we have in the school are all dc7700, a little old now but still really good. A lot of staff (particularly the IT team ) have dc7800s and are really pleased with them, although we don't tend to buy the ultra small ones as it's a pain having the external PSU. We'd rather just have a bigger box! Having said that, if you do get the ultra small option, the stand you can get is pretty solid and holds the PC as well as any monitor you want to use with a VESA mount.
OllieC Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 All our new IT rooms have the ultra small DC models mounted with 19" widescreen tfts. Very nice machines. The power bricks are irritating though as we have to have them on the desk with the computer.....

You get laptops with core duo instead of core 2 duo, 3 year old motherboards with no pci slots. They sell off a lot of old kit no-one else wants But you can't beat their warranty
PRicho Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Another vote for the Dell Optiplex Systems, just purchased another batch of the 760's USFF unit, monitor stand can be screwed to the desk, pc mounts on the back of the stand securely and the side cover stops kids unplugging things randomly as they love to do!
