DVD Duplicators

Hi

 

We are looking into DVD duplicators to distribute movie files and free software to our pupils.

 

What we are looking for is a duplicator that has a hopper for the blank DVDs and stores the image file locally so we can set it up and let it get on with it but we are not looking for top of the range kit.

 

Any recommendations or warnings would be welcome.

How many disks are you looking for it to hold / do at once?

You can get reasonably cheap ones up to about 12 disk i think... I was looking at about 100disk a while back and I think they came out about £1,500-2k!

Verity Systems are probably the people to speak to, and they do education discount. For the large-scale duplicators they seem the main company to use.

I use the 1 - 11 version of this. Very good piece of kit.

We have a CD duplicator which has one master drive (reader) to 3 copiers.

 

It uses a Wytron controller and works very well.

We use ours on a regular basis for copying CDs containing software and other school-produed files and work.

Are the movie files produced by the school under general license or does the school have copyright?

 

Or are they copyrighted material used by the school?

 

Just asking as I am going through this at the moment with copyright issues being highlighted within the school.

Not exactly what you want, as it needs a PC to drive it, but I use a Microboards GX-2 here. Takes 50 discs in the top, has a built in printer and 1 burner. I set it going and leave it, only coming back to top up discs and ink.

I've got one of these - Acard Pre-Built 1:3 SATA Duplicator (Pioneer) - SVP Well the old IDE based one and I got it as a kit and built it myself and saved a few quid and its great, done loads of copies of things like the schools Christmas production (so we had the rights to do that) and videos that we have made of other school events.

I have a friend with a media business who will do them for us very cheaply but to be honest I usually use the computers in one of the ICT suites. Stick some kids in at lunchtime and they can get 50-60 done which is usually all we need.

Give River Pro Audio (dvd printer, dvd copier, cd duplicator, cd printer, cd disc publisher, primera Disc Publisher) a call, they stock a massive selection of DVD duplication kit and have always been very helpful to me in the past.

They are our own in house videos, productions, English and ICT projects so copywrite is not much on an issue unless the boys use lots of downloaded clips !!

I've just looked at that device. Thats definately a serious full on solution.
