Popular Post Diello Posted April 30, 2009 Popular Post Posted April 30, 2009 The long awaited RC is now out on TechNet & MSDN - downloading now before it gets hammered. 5
eejit Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Well done - won't even let me log on already I presume that Server 2008 R2 RC is there too?
Diello Posted April 30, 2009 Author Posted April 30, 2009 Yup, TechNet has practically just fallen over, though thankfully download is still going. 2k8 R2 is indeed on there, it's 2nd in my download queue.
synaesthesia Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 It's now the main OS on my main system and my e-sloucho laptop, very, very happy with it's performance and reliability has been more than solid even throughout the betas.
Ric_ Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I had no problems downloading it Only took abou 20 mins to download the 3GB ISO. The biggest pain was not being able to upgrade from the beta (I was running the 21 March build and my technician had the Technet build). Left it restoring my files following backup so will have a play this weekend. No problems tuning in Media Center though
GrumbleDook Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Still pulling it down but will see how it performs on BootCamp over the weekend.
Simcfc73 Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Hadn't bothered enabling my Technet subscription that I get with my School Agreement till today... think this deserves to go on this lovely laptop. Will try the new Server 2008 R2 aswell.
FN-GM Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 dont have Technet subscription - Will have to wait until the final release.
EduTech Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 dont have Technet subscription - Will have to wait until the final release. Same here.. Although i am thinking of buying one!
rh91uk Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Technet has been very very very useful ever since Soulfish brought us a subscription! Downloading now.
K.C.Leblanc Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 What other benefits do you get from Technet, other then ebing able to download beta OSs?
Butuz Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Hmm technet is something I've always looked at and thought "that would be handy" but never gone ahead to persuade SMT to pay for it. Maybe it's about time I did! As KS Asks - what benefits does it bering to you/your school? Butuz
Dos_Box Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 You get the 2 free support calls. Absolute life (and career) savers.
powdarrmonkey Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Hadn't bothered enabling my Technet subscription that I get with my School Agreement till today... think this deserves to go on this lovely laptop. You did? We have a school agreement, do you know how we activate it if we do?
Soulfish Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 How much is a Technet subscription? We got ours for around £200ish, expiring in April 2011. If you have a schools agreement and 5 server licenses under it I've been told that you also get a Technet subscription as a Software Assurance benefit
TronXP Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 (edited) Hadn't bothered enabling my Technet subscription that I get with my School Agreement till today... think this deserves to go on this lovely laptop. Will try the new Server 2008 R2 aswell. Didn't even know I got one with schools agreement! Have just activated it, To activate, log into MS volume licening site and if your admin you have the option for "Software assurance benefits" click on that and follow the instructions. Reaper Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Damnit we don't qualify apparently. What is the build number for the RC?
powdarrmonkey Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 To activate, log into MS volume licening site and if your admin you have the option for "Software assurance benefits" click on that and follow the instructions. Hmm, tried that and it whinged that the request couldn't be fulfilled or some such rubbish. Any ideas?
Diello Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 What is the build number for the RC? 7100 TechNet Plus is brilliant - even cheaper if you go for the Direct and pass on getting the media sent out. You get the betas, trail software, db, communities, support calls, well worth it. Especially if you're a vanilla school. 1
AyatollahPies Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Public release is the day after Star Wars day. (That's Tuesday for those of you that have no idea what I'm talking about)
