Would like to thank everyone for there support with the custom logos. Nice to see the usual suspects making such positive comments.

 

Some of use have a life outside this forum, so excuse me for not having a logo ready for 00:01 today. Not that I have to justify myself but the logo was being done before the first post on the subject.

 

It would seem I have made a rod for my own back with the logos, one that I maybe should remove.

 

Aye, a rod for your own back you have made I'm afraid. In order to keep everyone happy, you're now going to have to either create a logo for every "event" day such as take your kids to work day and help the aged day, or simply not bother with any.

 

I'd go with the latter.

It's such a shame that so few people seem to have pride in our country anymore, yet are only too happy to promote the days celebrated by other nations. Of all the British Isles, we appear to have lost our identity most of all.

 

I just don't think that's true!

 

I think loads of people have pride in their country but the "English way" is not to make a fuss about such things - we just get on with life.

 

To say we've lost our identity because we don't go round waving flags is also not true - the whole point of the English identity is that we don't do flag waving - that's the American way!

 

The English way of celebrating would be something like making a nice pot of tea and some small cakes to go with it but doing this completely privately :-)

Let you all on in secret sysman doesn't tell us either he likes to surprise us with his logos as well ;)

 

No seriously was case of all admins being busy at time (I was dealing with network issue this morning). So sorry no one posted before sysman had chance to upload it.

Dos is ill with the flu and its been busy here too for me. Sysman spotted the thread and email me a logo which I put up asap but remember people we have work too :)

I think you'll find I never said that we've lost our identity because we don't go round waving flags. What I do find is that so many English people consider themselves to be British, where Scots, Welsh and Irish invariably say 'Scottish', 'Welsh' or 'Irish'.

Exactly! To be English is to be understated. To just get on and ignore frivolity.

I will refrain from making any comment about morley's status of historic market township as some of my colleagues live there ;)

 

Of course Morley is a historic market town. The signs pointing to it from the roundabout near the White Rose Centre say it is, so it must be true :)
