cromertech Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I've managed to catch two individuals who felt it necessary to swap/steal keys from a keyboard. Following the deputy heads advice I have decided to give them both community service style punishments by doing tasks in the computer rooms (supervised by myself). This is where I got stuck. The first task seems to me to be obvious. I've given them both a map of the key locations on a keyboard and a checklist for each computer room. They simply need to check that the keys are in the correct order and that all connections are in the rear of the computers (network, mouse, keyboard, monitor). After this I'm lost so I'm calling on the wealth of edugeek information to help. Does anyone have any suggestions for something else for them to do for the rest of this week.

I forgot recently when cleaning an overhead projector and got a rather large ball of flame as a result...silly me! Andrew

cromertech Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 me as well I'm not sure if i can get them to use anything chemically for cleaning (Health and Safety gone mad, maybe) but the printer thing would be fine probably.

Anyway, get them to clean every keyboard in the school with a cotton bud. Or, if their boxes of cables are anything like ours, get them to untangle them all
stu Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 we offer ours plastic gloves if they complain about chemicals in the screen clean soon shuts them up! (we also dont give them the bottle as it normaly means they use 300 times to much and stops them getting thirsty) if you there the chemical issue shouldnt be much of problem

I imagine because although it's compressed air it also uses butane or propane for the accelerant to actually get the gas out of the can much in the same way that hairspray causes a huge flame if you spray it on a flame

Or, if their boxes of cables are anything like ours, get them to untangle them all I wouldn't normally use compressed air on a switched-on projector as they do get rather hot, but I was obviously having a bad day! The flame was because the propellant which pushes out the air is highly flammable and it does actually tell you that on the can....Doh! I was in the Science dept. when it happened and the teachers were well impressed! They asked if I could do it again.......!! Andrew
