I want a cheap network printer, we currently have a few parallel printers that are dotted around the plcae, linked to netgear print servers.

I would like a cheap network printer(with built in NIC) It does not need to be fancy or heavy duty as it is for home use only.

If its Mono laser then have a look at what I just orderd:

I normally do not like Lexmark but for £74 (after ringing up) it seems a bargain. The reviews look good too. Typically for a Lexmark the consumables will be more then the competiton but I have bought it for use with a laptop trolley so I don't expect it to get hammered like in the IT Suite. It seems I am looking at £40 for a 2000 page toner cartridge after a quick look on the net. :D

If you want a colour laser, I recently bought a HP Laserjet 2600n from dabs for £195. Very nice little printer for a roomful of PCs.

If you want a reasonably priced colour laser have a look at the Dell 3100CN I saw a review on budget priced colour lasers and that beat the HP 2600 in running costs as well as most other categories.

The smaller Konica's look ok as well.

I swear by 2nd user HP 4000tn/4050tn printers from Stuart at 1st Technologies (01254 878800). At £150-ish you cannot go wrong!

They are indeed true work horses. Have just fitted a maintenance kit on one. 600K sheets and still prints like new.

I would recommend http://www.laserink.co.uk

We have a load of the refurbed printers, all with the HP network interface.

They also supply extra part as well, we have just recieved an additional print tray, so that the office only need one printer to do headed and plain paper.

HP DJ 6940's are excellent, used 2 on a contract job I did, excellent gadgets and network well on Server 2003, they are quick and can take a photo ink cartridge as well if you want, so it does two jobs in one! HP Business Jets are also good (again ink)

Laser, black - Samsungs are fine, never had problems with them, or baby HPs but they can be a bit plasticy and fragile

Colour - Samsing again, and they have a 5 year warranty offer with them unitl end of July so you cannot go wrong really as I only expect 5 years out of a printer then if it lasts longer its a bonus really.
