I am in the middle of creating a website and documenting the tool. One of the big differences is that it does not need a client installation (although later versions may use a client to extend functionality). The current non client version does support startup, shutdown, remote view screen etc etc. The other big difference is that tool will be open source not freeware etc. Would anyone be interested in helping test/develop this tool? Looking for technical and non technical help. If you are interested in application development side of project then it is developed in c# (although vb.net developers should be able to contribute as well). I am very close to an alpha release and project holding page is currently at Home (SlimmerIT). Please let me know if you would be interested or recommend features etc, Thanks, Tim

I did test this a while ago, but would like to retest with Windows 7. So yes it does work, but only if spend some time enabling remote registry access, wmi etc etc etc. I am not immediately worried about the Windows 7/Vista issue as so few organisations used Vista over XP for now But will test and document for the first alpha release towards end of next week.

If you can afford to buy 3 22" monitors on the off chance of a free piece of software being released, I'm sure you can afford to buy one of the commercial VNC monitoring apps too

It was announced and in beta. I do not see how that qualifies as 'off chance.' Also $500 =/= $2,500+ "I'm sure you can afford to buy..." You have some insight into my budget? Since you seem to think you do, I probably do not need to tell you that the monitors were purchased with donation specifically for that purpose. We're a private school, so funds are always hard to come by.

You're doing a fantastic job of getting offended over nothing though, do carry on.
