I connect at 6880 kbps, bit less than it used to be since I request interleaving to be switched off. 21CN is due to go live on my exchange next month so hopefully a boost will be available soon.

Pay for Sky 16Mbit

You want to knock yourself down to the middle package then and save a couple of pounds a month!

I've no idea - must be something to do with the fibre round here - and maybe our isp don't throttle up?

we pay enough for it...

Sky is rubbish!!

Yes and no. It really galls me to give that crook Murdoch any of my money, but where I am it's okay and better than some of the other ISPs, even VM, who I used to be with and suffered dire speeds with in the evenings.

I'm happy as I get my internet free thanks to lots of whingeing and stroppy letters about the Sky service offerings in general.

Nae they are the best ISP I have ever had and I have been through the mill with a lot. No throttling and regularily get up to 1800KB/s on downloads and thats at peak times.

Ric's connection is particularily bad at his house on any isp so its not skys fault.

I would like to add speedtest is a pretty pants site for accurate rates. I prefer seeing screenshots of actual download windows from say a MS server as thats the stats that matter. The real data to disk is the point and speedtest.net has NEVER reflected accurately what I actually get on throughput based on real data I actually download at. I hold no weight in its ratings or scores as if you look at browolfs post you will see that the connection is 8mb (8128kbps) but speedtest.net reports the rate as 14521kbps so how exactly that is possible is beyond me.

Here is a screenshot I took a while ago using getright from microsoft.com but I have seen it get up to 1800KB/s on megaupload mirrors using its manager (which although the accuracy has not been proven by me)

This is on a Sky BB max syncing at 16379 kbps to the exchange.
