Calling all Audiophiles......earphones help..

Hi, right i need some new earphones for my ipod...

 

I dont really know the first thing to look for so before i started googling i thought id ask here as we seem to be a bunch with many talents...

 

I listen to everything...a very random collection lol. But i do have a lot of Rock and a lot of Drum and Bass...

 

So does anybody have any advice as to what i should look for?

Erm, the earbud....or may use the ones with the little ear supports..

I have a pair of these: SENNHEISER CX300 at Richer Sounds - HI-FI Separates, Home Cinema, Speakers, MP3 DVD Portables, Plasma LCD, etc.

And as a rock fan they really do make a difference. They are £30, but £30 well spent IMHO!

Sony do a pair in HMV etc for £30 but DONT buy them. I had 2 sets and both broke in <6 months.

I can highly recommend Shure earphones.

 

I've got the SE210s. A bit expensive, but worth it IMHO.

 

They have a sponge earbud that moulds to your ear. I've used them on long haul flights to great effect. Just be careful, they are that good you might not here traffic coming.

wouldn't go back to anything else since started using these.

sounds full, theres multiple rubber buds included to go with the shape of your ear canal, and a nice rich sound. love em

I can put a big +1 for the SENNHEISER ones. Only have to have my MP3 player on about 5 (out of 30) even when on my motorbike. I use them instead of earplugs & work damned fine. The only slight problem I have found is if I am eating with them in the munching sound echoes!

I swear by Shure's SE530PTH's, but at £229.99 they're not to everyone's tastes... Future Sonics Atrio M8 plugs are brilliant but still £98... if wanting to keep to "reasonable" prices, Ultimate Ears Super.fi Studio 3 are around £60 and definitely well worth it.

Nowhere near as good as the CX300, I would imagine, but I can't imagine Sennheiser making something which was truly awful.

That's quite interesting....i've got the skullcandy ink'd and i really dont like em..

 

I'll have to remember that....are they good for bass and rock?

okay you look a little daft with massive headphones but if it's quality of sound you're after they're great, if these are too big the little brother to these are also cracking

If it was me I would go for the SENNHEISER in-ear headphones - By far the best for their price range at the moment. I've used SENNHEISER kit for DJ'ing many times and have always been very impressed with the sound quality and build quality.

Just to throw another one in the mix, Sennheiser PX200's sit on the ear, aren't especially big, and also fold up into a supplied case. About 35 quid and sounds good with just about everything.

 

If you were really serious about rock/drum&bass, HD25's cost about 4-5 times as much and are somewhat bigger but you'll never look back. HP25SP's are a cheaper version without the double headband.

 

My other pair are Stax electrostatics, but they aren't portable, are open back with no sound isolation, and you need a mains plug for them! Bloomin' fantastic though!

Another vote for the Shure SE210s. Although, mine are starting to crackle a little and I've not had them that long so it may be a little run on the warranty.

I heartily reccomend these but i get them off ebay,

 

Can pick them up for about £8 , exactly the same as the ones from Richer Sounds
