I know BETT 2009 has only just finished, but I see the dates for next year have been announced.

BETT 2010 takes place 13th - 16th January 2010 at London Olympia.

Did someone not mention that BETT would be changing venue from next year or did I imagine it?

Yes, it is still at Olympia, but I am sure it was rumoured it was moving to Manchester / Birmingham.

Would be a heck of a lot easier for me if it was :D

It WAS due to move to ExCeL AKA The Docklands but hasn't moved. But it is still a week later (so 2nd week of term for most schools) which in some ways is better and others not so good.

Excel is rubbish if your staying overnight - there is nothing much around there apart from one hotel, some concrete and some water. Glad its staying in Olympia to be honest!!

It was 2nd week of term this year too and last year IIRC

The organisers of BETT, EMAP, perform a review each year, getting feedback from exhibitors, a Visitors Advisory Group and secret shoppers.

They had looked at a variety of possible venues and the leading choice was ExCeL as a possible alternative ... but let's face it ... until 2012 it is going to be a building site until the extra hotels, etc are sorted.

Olympia was a fair bit better this year ... proper carpet in the walkways rather than carpet tiles (those tiles had seen better days really!), more space upstairs and the lounges were good too.

Signage could have been better (did people know about the internet cafe or where it was) and there is always room for improvement. If people do have feedback then PM me and I will pass it on at the next meeting (July time) as I will still be on the Visitors Advisory Group (Wearing the LA hat :-) )
