RabbieBurns Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 As much as I hate giving BT any money, I must admit I ordered from dabs.com on friday. Was the cheapest price around, and I wasnt needing it in a hurry. Options for delivery were £9.99 for next day delivery, to £1.99 for a 3-5 day delivery. Chose the 3-5 day delivery, expecting it to arrive some time this week, but lo and behold it turned up the next day, Saturday AM. Thumbs up
srochford Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Dabs are always pretty good at delivery; I've regularly ordered late in the afternoon, specified the 3-5 day delivery and the goods have arrived next day.
Griffo Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 We use them quite often. Ordered a printer from them wednesday last week, bout 2.30ish on the 3-5 day delivery, arrived next day about 11 am Definitly recomend them
powdarrmonkey Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Most of our stuff comes from them, for the same delivery reasons. We also have a good relationship with our account manager, which is always a +1.
plexer Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Was that for home or school? for school I always look at dabs4work.com as the prices are shown ex vat. Ben
Extro Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 I had a horrible experience with dabs.com and some speakers I ordered for home. Turns out they ran out of stock as I ordered it, and they didn't reply to me for about two weeks, when they finally sent the order they sent me some second hand speakers. (They had no box, a hole in one of the speakers, and the sub woofer had parts moving around inside of it :S)
Simcfc73 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I love dabs and use them for most of my stock now. I just bought some Axis 216MFD cameras for £230 each as they were open box stock, the retail price is £550 I have dropped lucky a few times with return stock as there are bargains galore about.
danrhodes Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Hi, I'v always had good exp with Dabs, I know Martin who works there he is a star, he can find anything for you! D
str Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Just to echo some of the comments above, I've found my account manager there to be a star! Really helpful and provides good pricing.
pete Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Anyone know if they're about to go under on the consumer side? (dabs.com) Customer service has gone from distinctly mediocre to completely unaccepable in the last few weeks, with most avenues of contact non-responsive. Also, Is their live chat function working for anyone? It looks like it's been disabled.

Wouldn't expect so its owned by BT and has been for about 2 or 3 years now so I would be distinctly worried if that was the case as the nation would loose its telephones!!!!
mattx Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Would not go near Dabs again after my experience with a duff DVD drive - their customer support is pratically non-existent along with scan.co.uk. Dabs, Sophos & scan.co.uk = crap at everything.

I saw those as well! Was an excellent price for 2 Axis megapixel cameras, although don't know if I could have got the funding that quick! Do they work ok? We also use dabs as our primary supplier of bits 'n bobs (except printer consumables - too much competition with cheaper prices everywhere).

Thumbs up On the flip side i payed for next day delivery and it took over a week for me to recieve it. I emailed them, i tried to phone them... as far as i can gather there isnt a single human working for them, well i certainly couldnt get hold of one. Ive never bought from dabs again, not that i never would but i certainly wouldnt rely on them for something i needed urgently, and i deffinatly wont be paying for quick delivery again

I used them a couple of times years ago and experienced the same problems... when I changed job I opened a business account with them and have a direct line to someone.
Diello Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Agreed - Our Dabs Account Manager is worth her weight in gold, and as such I give them a high percentage of our business. Our last Acc Manager there, was a nightmare, so they got next to nothing!
bizzel Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I've had a terrible experience with Dabs (a few years back) in which I found out there was no way to contact them by phone. I don't know if that's true for businesses but for personal sales that was certainly the case at the time. Even calling their registered business number just put me through to an answerphone telling me to email them! To cut a long story short it took almost a month to get a refund. I won't go near them again.
conehead Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Being in Bolton meant up to a couple of years ago I could go and pick stuff up directly from Dabs as well as Scan. Scan have always been OK when stuff had gone faulty, but it helps if you are near enough to sort it eyeball to eyeball, not used Dabs since it went BT.

I agree dabs is nightmare if you need to return items via web, however a doddle when direct account number. I have had no problems with dabs, i have had same account manager for 10 years!!. luck of the draw i guess with who you get !!
mac_shinobi Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 think last time i ordered from them I did get next day delivery with city link but the guy who was delivery for city link must of knocked on the door once gently and drove off so had to make a few phone calls and arrange to pick it up so felt like i wasted a tenner or more on next day delivery when I have to go and pick it up cos they cant be bothered to knock properly and or wait long enough for you to answer the door.
