Sirbendy Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 we're still running - not sure for how long. It'll be "everyone out" at 4, if we last that long. mini-blizzard again. tits. If it keeps up, I'm not doing tomorrow. I'll devote it to "pre-move" packing that I've been procrastinating over.
elsiegee40 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 6.30am Call from the HT to update the website as we were open. 7.30am Got into work (wellie-power) and did phone duty as secretary snowed in. 10am the blizzard forced a closure decision and all kids evacuated by noon. The freezing conditions had turned our steep hill path into a ski slope Eldest teenager left school at 10.15am, younger one at 12 noon having played snowballs all morning at his school. It's still snowing steadily, but it doesn't seem to be making any difference to the depth now (about 2 inches). There's still a gap where my husband's car was this morning. However, as the temperature start to drop...
sparkeh Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Apparently we are one of the few schools still open in Leicestershire. BBC and C4 phoned for an interview with the Head
tom_newton Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Vast majority of flights out of LBA cancelled today... hope it clears up wednesday as I don't want to miss my connection from Schipol to Nairobi a second year running (and I think it would kill Amy... she has not seen her folks for 18 months). I officially hate snow > can we ship it all over to saudi for vik?
witch Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 We were open - in BOTH the schools I work in - how unfair is that? Junior school was just babysitting. Middle school very cross as the other one in the pyramid closed! most problems caused by no gritting on anything other than major roads. We only had 3 or 4 centimetres but that is enought to stop you getting up steep ungritted hills. It is snowing again now - I wonder what they will do tomorrow..
Guest Guest Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 We've had roughly 1mm of snow. Amazing eh? Did you take the day off?
vikpaw Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Vast majority of flights out of LBA cancelled today... hope it clears up wednesday as I don't want to miss my connection from Schipol to Nairobi a second year running (and I think it would kill Amy... she has not seen her folks for 18 months). I officially hate snow > can we ship it all over to saudi for vik? I'll take it all, and put it in my Coca-Cola. I hope the snow lets up enough that i can fly back on the 21st, but then starts snowing again so i can play
Andrew_C Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I was going to post a picture of a 700 boy snowball fight but FF kept crashing as I tried to up-load, and now I've left it at work. You'll have to try to imagine it based on however many of your kids got in...
leco Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 You'll have to try to imagine it based on however many of your kids got in... My imagination will have to be huge then as none of ours did!
