ajbritton Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Anyone else playing with Vista 2.0 - sorry I mean Win7 yet? I've run the 6801 build released at PDC on VMWare on my Centrino laptop and it's surprisingly sprightly! My one gripe is that despite using Rafael Riviera's unlock hack, I can't see the application previews on the new 'superbar'. I guess that's an 'aero' only thing.
PeterW Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 (edited) Vista 2.0 You mean Vista 1.5 right Hmm, where have you got it from? unless they attended PDC. Edited November 9, 2008 by ChrisH Warez
ajbritton Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 I will only say that I did not attend PDC...
EduTech Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 (edited) EDIT: got it me thinks.. 2.6 gig not bad Edited November 9, 2008 by ChrisH warez

EduTech Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 seemms to run pretty well on a VM, although its lacking 1 feature compared to the presentation at PDC. the thumbnail veiw of the apps u have open when u put ur mouse over the new taskbar! is it that is missing it.. or is it b cuz its on a vm James.
Domino Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 you have to run the unlocking hack as per the OPs original post

James.
originofsymmetry Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Where on the connect site do you find a link to become a beta tester? I've looked with little success.
Theblacksheep Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 (edited) Ran well in a VM, just a rough guide: My vista (32 bit) scores are 5.9 for pretty much everything except disk speed which is 5.4. W7 running in a vm on the same vista scored it 5.1 for everything except GFX = 1.0 but disk access was 5.8. Memory use on boot 350-400mb (with 1gb allocated). Current vista setup uses 1.2gb. Seems to be what Vista should have been. Edited November 10, 2008 by Theblacksheep

ChrisH Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I know it's only a pre release but can we refrain from talk of getting MS products through unofficial channels please. I have edited several posts.
Michael Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I'm interested to know information on memory use and just how low a CPU you can get away with
Simcfc73 Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Looks like Vista all over on my VPC, will wait for the RC for a proper eval.
originofsymmetry Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Please can we have some screen shots Here you go WinGeek - Screenshot Gallery 1
EduTech Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I know it's only a pre release but can we refrain from talk of getting MS products through unofficial channels please. I have edited several posts. Oops yh sorry no problem.. Seems to run fine on my spare core 2.. better then vista tbh lol
Messa Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 I think its better than vista.. but we shall see what the final product ends up like...
zag Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 I know it's only a pre release but can we refrain from talk of getting MS products through unofficial channels please. I have edited several posts. Why? its the only real way of getting it and Microsoft don't seem to mind so much. Had a go myself and it seems they have managed to speed up the operating system alot and reduce the memory foot print. Exactly what Vista should have been.
Antp Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Hey, i downloaded it yesterday and i and waiting to install.
Gatt Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Anyone out there willing to shove it on a disc and send it out my way...
