Go for a small cheap hatch.

I paid £400 for my Clio and it has run fine for nearly three years. It cost me about £200 to get it through it's last MOT and I've just spent £100 for a new exhaust but it runs well and the insurance is cheap.

I know that if anything happens which is expensive I can just scrap it and get another without losing too much.

At the end of the day, you can make yourself skint getting a pretty new car - what happens when that needs fixing and you don't have the money?

Thats my views.

Been driving for 7 years now - been wanting to do my motorbike test for a while now but never seem to have the extra cash. I will get through it though when I come into the money.

Driving Test ? Lordy, did that like 20 years ago......Get a motorbike - much more fun. :bowl:

Yeah I was considering that actually - getting a motor bike that is but I enjoy listening to my music too much and the warmth in the winter - yes I do know you can get leathers lol :D kinky some would say lol :censored:

yeah at least I will stay warm and dry in the winter months or when its p1551ng it down with rain

Oddly enough i get more wet taking off my wet stuff after a ride - modern day bike gear is excellent for water proof and warmness.

I don't like leathers, so its a Buffalo jacket, over trousers, Frank Thomas boots with some Salomon Ski socks....

Just got some gloves from TK Maxx - they are great with some undergloves on....

I passed my test recently too - theory I passed first time, but practical it took me three times believe it or not! Driving makes life so much easier. The examiner, the route and a bit of luck on the day are all needed. Birmingham does have some tricky roads as I'm sure other cities do too.

The DVLA have recently introduced yet another requirement they refer to as "driving green" which in my view, isn't driving at all :D It basically means planning ahead, keeping the car moving as much as possible and not over revving.

I've also heard rumours that the theory will be increased to 75 questions from the current 50. It'll include questions to do with car maintenance in addition to what we have now.

It seems the UK has some of the highest standards in the world when it comes to driving. If they make it too hard, I think it'll just encourage more illegal driving in my opinion.

Congratulations on passing and drive safe :)
