My grandparents had a beautiful mark like that on their french window once (I think it has a name, don't remember). It was there for weeks because nobody wanted to wash it off.

Actually in most cases the bird survives - the mark is a mixture of dust (dander) from the birds wings and possibly some of the oil on their feathers

I had similar on my windscreen with a pigeon...I doubt it survived at 60, and being double whammied by the car behind me in my slipstream when it slid off my roof didn't do it any favours either..

i didn't no. i was just working in the IT suite and went to switch on the PC next to that window and noticed a mark. i thought it was on the inside and then realised it was the outside. shame i didn't have my camera with me, that was my phone that took the pic.
