tazz Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Hi Our Intranet has "suddenly" stopped working on our workstations (read last friday but no one thought to tell us). On Friday we had a knowledgeable chap fiddle with our Exchange server to set up https access, but that was a different server. IE7 has EduGeek.net set as its home page, but we keep getting page not displayed. If I go directly on the server and launch the home page it works. If I type http://servername/index.htm or http://ServerIPAddress/index.htm in IE7 on a workstation it works. Bypass proxy for local address in set to include ServerIPAddress and EduGeek.net I have restarted IIS and DNS as I initially though it could be a DNS issue. This is a CC3 network with a Smoothwall firewall. Hope someone can help.
Michael Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 On the server and workstation (in turn), open up a command prompt and type: ipconfig /all Does the DNS and Gateway match the servers?
imiddleton25 Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 We have had a similar problem where the IE settings on connections LAN settings where set to Automatically detect settings. unticked it and it worked fine strange thing is that is all set by GP and it only affects a handful of children.
FN-GM Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 what is the intranet server running? Apache or IIS?
User3204 Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Does the IIS server know to display the index.htm file ? There's a setting in there somewhere, because IIS likes to use default.asp files.
kmount Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 If I type http://servername/index.htm or http://ServerIPAddress/index.htm in IE7 on a workstation it works. I assume http://intranet/index.html DOESNT work? - If so, can you ping from the workstation "intranet". - If yes, suggests IIS is having a moment. If no: Try http://intranet.yourdomain and see if this works.
tom_newton Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 How'e you configuring the proxy? Is there anything in guardian's logs during the failure? That might give you a clue if intranet access is mistakenly being routed external.
