Logoff Synchronize just won't go away

Hello there! I recently added some new machines to our Server 2003 Active Directory, all the GPO's work as they should, except one option.

 

When logging off on those machines it shows the synchronizing box, Now the GPO's all say that this shouldn't come up, I tried gpupdate / force and even logging on as the local admin (or network admin) and telling the machines to not do it, but it only has effect for that user.

 

Any help would be appreachiated.

There's no chance of any rogue GPOs being applied to the machines is there?

 

You could try making sure the machines are only picking up the GPOs they need with gpresult.

I'd be interested to know how you set it to not show the Synchronise box as this causes issues at my school.

Computer Config > Admin Templates > Network > Offline Files

 

Allow or Disallow use of the Offline Files feature - Disabled

 

Prohibit user configuration of Offline Files - Enabled

 

Synchronise all offline files when logging on - Disabled

 

Synchronise all offline files before logging off - Disabled

 

Remove "Make Available Offline" - Enabled

 

User Config > Admin Templates > Network > Offline Files

 

Prohibit user configuration of Offline Files - Enabled

 

Synchronise all offline files when logging on - Disabled

 

Synchronise all offline files before logging off - Disabled

 

Remove "Make Available Offline" - Enabled

 

This should do the trick. Please note it may take a few reboots until the policies become active.

Thanks for replies guys, I had quick check for any rogue GPO's but I only had a couple of minutes, I can RD the server and try it this weekend.

You may need to delete any files that have made themselves available offline - simply go to tools -> synchronize in My Computer and then click Properties. Delete away and then see what happens.

I usually find that reinitializing the offline files cache, solves most issues. Take a look here.

As this was an issue isolated to just a few of our new computers I had a feeling that it was perhaps not Group Policy related. I think I might have found the answer on the local machine logged on with admin rights - it's to do with the Syncronization Manager. Accessing that and unticking the files seems to have done the trick. Screen shot attached. Now it is - first attempt was in Word 2007!

Daleus, have you moved the new machines into the correct OU or left them in the default?

There's a default "domain computers" category which all the machines are in, this has all the correct policies in place.

 

I have to get access to a new machine or my laptop with a virtual machine on to see if it has fixed over the weekend (had a r/desktop session friday night)

 

I have also tried logging on as a local admin and unticking everything in mobsync (and the like), infact this was the first thing I did.
