That's interesting.... currently trying to get an RMA replacement for one AP put through, which is taking a while.

Not heard anything else, though. Sources?

Situations like this remind me of the potential downside of cloud-managed solutions. I'm seriously considering grabbing the cnMaestro On-Prem download and keeping it in reserve before anything changes. Having a self-hosted option available could prove valuable down the line.

Yikes. I bet Tariq is popular with the administrators for slipping that one out.

Not a bad shout tbh. You'd hope that Cambium US would keep things ticking over, but I don't suppose they're under any obligation to.

Another source...

https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2026/09/wireless-uk-broadband-company-cambium-networks-falls-into-administration.html

Quote

Devon-based Cambium Networks, which specialises in providing wireless broadband (FWA) and Wi-Fi style technologies globally and also to broadband ISPs in the UK via its local subsidiary, appears to have called in the administrators following the “unfortunate collapse of the business“.

Administration often occurs when a company, such as one that is in financial difficulty, is put into the hands of an administrator. The administrator then decides whether they can help the company to continue running or sell it off for a good price. Sources informed ISPreview that Cambium Networks Limited had officially filed a “Notice of Intention” to appoint an administrator on 10th September 2026, which we’ve since confirmed.

The wider group is known to have been facing some difficulties, particularly since the global focused Cambium Networks Corporation found itself being delisted from Nasdaq back in March 2026 due to delayed periodic reports and SEC filing compliance issues. Shortly after this Cambium Networks Corporation officially ceased its status as a Person with Significant Control (PSC) of the UK based Cambium Networks Ltd.

The Corp’s latest annual report similarly highlighted its financial and listing challenges, with company management expressing concern about its ability to continue as a going concern due to covenant breaches, tight liquidity and uncertain access to additional financing.

ISPreview have attempted to contact Cambium Networks for a comment, but their official PR address currently appears to be refusing external contacts. The situation is likely to have an impact upon a number of wireless broadband ISPs in the UK, as well as other companies, that are known to have adopted Cambium’s hardware and services for their networks. The administrators will naturally be looking to find a way through all of this.

FFS, how typical is this after deploying our solution over the summer 🙄 Fingers crossed that there is an interested buyer. Might be wise to buy a few spare APs for any future warranty issues!

Should complete collapse happen with no buyers or investment, obviously their wifi is entirely cloud managed - thinking both realistically and worst case scenario, are we looking at a very expensive set of bricks? Would someone be likely to be able to take over the cloud management side of things or perhaps provide a failsafe backup which could be implemented on a per-customer approach via their own hosting for example?

There is an onprem version of cnMaestro, however in my quick research this evening it looks like it has to be activated via Cambium servers first. It might be worth spinning one up now and activating and then powering down in case it's needed in the future?

The biggest issue I think is ongoing development and bug fixes. If this is abandoned then how long will it be until the solution is effectively useless because there are so many bugs / incompatibilities with newer devices etc?

We ditched Ruckus for Cambium as it represented a ~£4k total saving Y1-Y5 and then at least £7k total saving Y6-Y10 once Ruckus annual support became payable. I really hope we haven't made the wrong decision. We're really happy with it as a solution, it has been straightforward to deploy and has been performing really well.

If it does get purchased by a competitor then presumably the competitor will just want to integrate the APs into their own cloud platform (like Cambium did when they bought Xirrus)

There is a local appliance version of the controller, although I've not looked into it in any depth. One assumes you'd be able to re-enrol the APs onto that, assuming the enrolment process doesn't rely on any call-home features.

I'm pretty sure the configuration sits on the APs themselves, so if the cloud controller disappeared tomorrow, it would keep working. However, you'd just be stuck with a system you couldn't make any changes to, and minus any web-based features you might be using.

Yeah, it's the basic "essentials" version apparently. Regardless, I'm downloading both that and the AWS images now just in case.

Where do we get this please?

Hmmmm.....  Not happy.   I've shouted about how great Cambium is/was for years - let's hope something gets sorted.

From what I can gather, to convert from Cloud to On Prem, you need to get your database exported by Cambium Support to then import into your On Prem device.  What are the chances of support actually still there at the moment?  I'm still looking.

Also, the download for OnPrem is for 6.0.0, whereas the cloud version is 6.2.0.

Ours was installed during the Summer of 2023 - disappointing if we have to find something else - Governors are going to hate me.

There goes my plan to sell 45 access points haha

Short term if warranty has paused/stopped they might be worth more at the moment..

Just updating all AP's to new Software Version and checking warranty/licences as was installed through Connect the Classroom scheme, wondering what happens when current license expires?

Anyone picked up on the comms today that Cambium have collapsed.

We got a few hundred APs across the trust so I hope not!

I believe it was on the 10th of September 2026 that the UK arm of the company said they intended to file for Administration so not looking good if you have devices under warranty.

Next few weeks are crucial, ideally a buyout happens.

I am awaiting updates but from what i understand(which isn't much currently) nothing should go off in the short term.

I expect announcements from Cambium themselves today as it seems Friday was the day they let staff go.

I will try get updates for us where possible

What a disaster though :classic_sad:

I have reached out to our CtC framework supplier and the DfE as ours was installed over Summer, and we're still waiting a couple of external APs. So far they've not got any more information than we have, but we're trying to cover ourselves in case the worst case scenario happens. I *think* we can remove the APs from auto provisioning and manually enrol them in the local system but there is zero information about doing that, only to enrol to each out of the box.

Huge shame - it's only been running a couple of weeks and I love it.

I would just check you have the latest recommended Software Version for your AP Model and update if required as cannot see any more software updates coming if no one takes them over.
