I installed brave on all the staff machines because it was the only way to make you tube kind of classroom safe. It auto updates but requires a manual install no MSI.

As for what type of advert who the hell know, the teacher was terrified he was going to be in trouble. Thankfully it was open on the second monitor not the IWB.

If we talk about porn, the system is extremely good at recognizing porn (perhaps because there is so much material to train the AI engine with 😀).

You can set the sensitivity in three different levels.
If you set the Sensitivity level to High, not much will get through that I would classify as porn.

There is also another option you can make:
Block Video - Automatically stops and blocks playing the video when inappropriate content is played for more than 5 seconds.

To prevent the system from blocking educational videos, you can specify exceptions for YouTube channels and also specify exceptions for educational materials at the Domain and subdomain exclusions level.

As said previously, we allow embedded YouTube “on a few specified sites”. I’m thinking that to allow pupils to other specific videos, I/we could create a site that we could embed said specific videos into.

We use the LGfl framework for this, native Netsweeper would certainly work, and providing you have access to referrer headers in your filtering, it’s not a difficult thing to do.

You're all discussing some very interesting ways to end up getting block listed by YouTube guys.

The answer remains, that if you post a YouTube video in Google Classroom, that will strip the adverts from it.

Is this still working consistently for you @paulkerton

FYI this was covered today on UKSIC's filter vendor quarterly call - they are putting together a joint message to google about this issue

We use LGfL Netsweeper and teachers like to use videos directly from YouTube for relaxing music/videos for SEND, embedding seems to make no difference.

I tried the Classroom embed this morning as the ads on a laptop repair video were driving me insane, it seems to work!

Do you have the ad block and privacy categories set as blocked and full decryption as well?

Brave still works for us.

You do have to make sure the update urls are unblocked.

Also they do ADMX files for AD that are pretty decent for managing it.

Just a shame theres no official MSI.
