johbreaking Posted December 2, 2025 Posted December 2, 2025 Just going through jobs we are looking at next year and one of the jobs we need to do is pick a solution for the trust for the IT team to do remote support. We have seen/have most like senso, impero, AB tutor etc but wondering if there is anything baked into Windows or chromebooks which we could utilise under our current agreements. Not researched much so looking for any pointers what might be available within subscriptions already.
Davit2005 Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 Do you use SCCM, if so the tool is already there. Windows used to do a remote assistance thing but that seems to of gone???
JazzFlute Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 Windows Quick assist is good, details below. ✅ What is Quick Assist? Quick Assist is a remote assistance tool that lets someone you trust take control of your PC over the internet to help troubleshoot issues. ✅ Availability: Windows 10 Home: Included by default. Windows 11 Home: Included by default. You can find it by searching Quick Assist in the Start menu. ✅ Requirements: Both parties need a Microsoft account. Internet connection is required. No extra cost or third-party software needed. 1
willtech Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 NetSupport does 247connect - Remote desktop software they even have an offer of 12 months free at the moment if you use a product of theirs: 247connect - offer We use Splashtop at the moment as we can escalate our permissions on connect. Quick Assist is useful until you need the escalate your permission to accept the UAC screens.
john Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 If you have your chromebooks enterprise enrolled you have built in remote to them via the Google admin console. Just go to the device in the admin console and it should be an option in the menu along with reboot etc. Beleiev it just uses the free chrome remote desktop tool but it's all built in so super easy to use.

IIRC there's a workaround for this. There's a GPO to move the UAC off the secure desktop to the interactive desktop. Lowering the security ever so slightly but if it's your only choice you can risk assess to accept this minimal risk in a managed environment for the convenience of remote support. johbreaking Posted December 3, 2025 Author Posted December 3, 2025 So brekdown of devices at the moment is: Windows is split so have around 70% managed via SCCM and then then another 30% managed by intune but this number is growing on intune so for windows side whatever options available must work on both. How are people who are using this finding supporting machines like this compared to using Senso, impero etc? Chromebooks is very interesting will take that away and look
TheHyperTechie Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 You could look at something like Action1, which supports remote access for windows devices (also free for up-to 200 endpoints).
RobFuller Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 I’ve heard from a reliable source that unattended access is expected to be added to Remote Help for Intune early in the new year. The exact timeline wasn’t confirmed, but if true, this could be a great low-cost option. At the moment, we use Splashtop, mainly because its licensing model is based on per concurrent connection rather than the number of devices, which has worked well for us. However, if Remote Help proves to be effective and cost-efficient, we’ll definitely review our setup.
johbreaking Posted December 3, 2025 Author Posted December 3, 2025 Be interested to see what the cost of remote help will be on intune as looks expensive just browsing but well worth an investigation. Is quick assist still free alternative to this then?
