mikkydoos Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 Hey all, I'm looking for some advice/experiences/woes of MIS sync tools. Will be syncing from BromCom to M365/Azure. Tool needs to: Create / delete staff / student M365/Azure accounts Create / delete AD accounts Allow parameters for dynamic Azure group membership Create Class Teams What are you using and how do you find it ? I've had a demo of Locker Connect and it looks a bit clunky. I hear good things about Salamander. What is BromComs offering like ? Any thoughts / advice on a good set and forget product? Cheers in advance
jthompson Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 I'm fairly sure that Bromcom can do this natively. I'd suggest determining if that's the case and assessing that before deciding to buy another tool for it. 1

FragglePete Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 I'm sure this has been covered many times before. You've got Locker and Salamander, and to be honest they are good as each other. I can only comment on Locker, but I like to see what it's doing and Locker has a GUI that allows you do this and do some of the setup / customisation yourself. I can also comment on their excellent support which would normally get back to me within an hour or two, and this was still very much the case during the early September period. Salamandar I know are very good, and highly rated but I understand that your at their mercy to get the slightest of tweaks done. More of a black box, which may be the set and forget that your after. 3s-gtech Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 Salamander configs are XML files. Very easy to alter (and easy to break!) Usually best to let them do it if unsure, but I have done plenty of changes to the configs over the years. 2 1

mikkydoos Posted November 6, 2025 Author Posted November 6, 2025 Thanks all. I had another demo of Locker yesterday and it does everything I need it to do and at a decent price.
LH_1 Posted November 6, 2025 Posted November 6, 2025 Salamander we have in place - have done for a few years now, seamless across all our platforms from MIS - never had any issues, delivered on all fronts, can thoroughly recommend. Like above, heard just as positive around Locker too. 2
mukz Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 it depends, if you just want the basics, bromcoms offering allows just that, if you want to customise stuff then Locker and Salamander is the way to go. We use Salamander - they have heavily customised our setup for us and more often than not its config changes within the same day.
Planehazza Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 (edited) Locker here too. Very good support. Locker itself doesn't have great features for AD group membership. It will natively allow for identification of teaching/non teaching, but you cannot natively put SLT staff into an SLT AD group, FirstAiders etc. Requires custom scripts and UDFs. Not had much luck getting this working with Bromcom but worked well with SIMS (the irony). Edited November 19, 2025 by Planehazza
