Should be under 365 admin centre > Billing > Your Products " Windows 10 ESU Year 1 (2025 - 2026) "

Yup. we've pushed it out to over 100 machines this way.

I've been pushing people really hard in the last year in a tough financial climate to replace their non-Windows 11 compatible machines. The good citizens have been punished and I have lost credibility.

 

All pretty annoying really.

 

Edit: I'm not entirely surprised this is the outcome, not I didn't feel I could afford to take the security risk.

Yep, we've planned this back since the MS announcement 3-4 years ag. I did wonder if MS would blink on the whole deal, although we were already overdue to replace the machines.

I'm not because for £1 per machine I can leave it as is, rather than spend the time (= money) to downgrade it. I'm sure there were mumblings about the MS365 apps not being officially supported on those older LTSC versions as well, but perhaps that's the same with all of Win 10 post 14th Oct.

The machines that I have which need ESU are mostly ancient, so it has worked out well financially to spend £1 each on them to prolong that life further. Not worth the effort of changing them all to LTSC and the compromises that brings.

Hopefully next year we’ll have far fewer to put through ESU.

We have kept LTSC for our digital signs (LTSC2019), I know a school that use teams app so that wouldnt work on LTSC, they have extended 10 support for some machines.  We took our older laptops and ChromeFlex'd them.  Integrated reasonably well with our chromebook fleet, the only issue is the lack of store on the Flex- they are just general use devices.  I cant think of many things that LTSC wont do though.

Our remaining Win10 devices are on LTSC and we have Teams working. You need to install winget first as LTSC doesn't have it installed by default, then install using the MSIX installer.

Is the web version of teams not useable, I find I have migrated to that now as the full app is just an annoyance.

Isn't it that the desktop apps are unsupported, so not necessarily unsuable? it's a risk though.

 

I find the Teams desktop app is better for meeting at least, if you want immediate chat etc.

We have a tiny amount of 7th Gen kit left in school maybe 10-15 max and we just installed LTSC on them office 365 desktop apps all work just fine... we are a google school so most work is done in google but some students still use Microsoft word/excel... within the next year we won't have any pre 8th Gen kit left on site anyway as they will all be upgraded... anything odd that is 7th gen or older by 2027 when LTSC falls out of service if we want to use still we will put another OS on it like Flex or some form of Linux, but in honesty by then they will all be WEEE. we just WEEE'd our 4th GEN NUCs last year and Donated our 5th and 6th Gen NUCs to our computer students with Linux MINT on them
