2) If I did, there'd be no IT support for the school, and although I should, I'm a bit too conscientious. Anyway, if I'm not in Tuesday, I'll have double (quadruple?!) work to do on Weds...

We had a letter saying that unless you had already booked the day off - you couldn't use annual leave.

IndieGirl: I have been in my house nearly 18 months and hadn't heard anything about it till someone mentioned it in school. My Mum who is in Unison has lived in her house 21 years and hadn't heard anything till I mentioned it!!

I work all the time on my sch network, there's just so much to do. Not what a Union would wnat to hear either. But I haven't spent a day off the network since I got remote access last year. Before that I've lost 19 days annual leave in a year.

 

Yeah ther's always going to be more work, and you'll have to do it. What's that got to do with standing and being counted as a group so that people who are fighting for your working conditions and pay can show they have some backup.

 

Respect to you for being honest.

I have asked the Head of ICT to leave the servers in peace for the day!

I'm not suggesting for a second that any of you guys don't care about the welfare of your schools, that's not my point. I'm being a martyr and reminding the SMT here what happens when the let the NM take a month-long holiday, three weeks of which are in schoolterm, and don't provide backup.

 

(so for once I'm being selfish in a respect)

 

I would've voted 'no' had I been able to, so it seems daft to me to go against my beliefs and stand out there in the cold for something that I genuinely believe is only going to be put back - the rule of 85 will be removed, just maybe not now (because of the strikes). By the time I've clocked up anything near 85 years (if I last that long in Local Gov employment), I truely believe that the RO85 will be long gone.

 

But kudos to all you guys striking, indeed.

Reason i decided to strike....

 

mainly as i am rep and

 

as caretaker was (gmb) striking

 

so me and one other unsion member decided that would support him in this...

 

other unions members decided not to which is fine this is my view is personnel choice...

 

our school closed to kids because of threat of pickerting (ironic not us as our members decided not to) but from staff from upper schools....

 

anyway

 

as sais this is personnel choice and no one should be said is wrong for not striking
