A Grand Day Out

[Seb1780]

I'm being let out for a day to the ASCL "Using Data Better" conference tomorrow. Any other Edugeek DM's going? It'd be nice to put some faces to names if there are.

[WayTooTricky]

Blimey Seb, "let out" ! Me, I'm lucky if they unchain me from my desk long enough to go for a pee!

[CAM]

Not me, the only data manager's club I'm in is this group.

[Emm]

Not me and I know exactly what you mean WayTooTricky!

[hschram]

I have a ball and a chain as well as a guard dog in case I leave the desk .... : (

[Seb1780]

Well, clearly DM's in the wild are a rare thing! There were three of us there, all under the watchful eye of our SLT lead.

TBH, you didn't miss much - I've learned far more from this forum than I'll ever learn in a hotel room at the less salubrious end of the District Line.

[CAM]

I think we'd be better off organizing informal stuff at the weekends. That's an idea...

[bobsmith]

involving a game of paintball first perhaps? vent some of the frustrations of working in education!

[Jenis]

@CAM I've also found the Data Managers facebook group super helpful, people post there really regularly. It's created and run by SISRA, but it's more of general DM group now.

I'm quite lucky, my trust data director is good at making sure we all stay connected as a group (exams officers as well) and help each other out.

[CAM]

Might take a look at that. The problem is Facebook. D:

[tombry]

yeah I don't want my personal facebook attached to that...would be interested though.

[WayTooTricky]

Make a 2nd facebook account for work. I'm a member of the group and of the exams officer one. Sometimes it's hard to get away from worky things.
