Dear Geek Peeps, I have been asked to add the number of days missed to an individual report. I can see authorised and unauthorised sessions but not number of days. Is there a slick automatic way to do this rather than manually calculating and adding to an aspect for each reporting cycle? Thanks in advance

The "Visibilty=false" thing sorted me out too. Such a relief to find a fix.

Thanks - it's the approach that I have done that too - ended up popping in JPEGs for the lines that don't convert. I think that cake is a good outcome.

Afternoon I am looking for a work around. We have a new letterhead and it's not converting to a .doc nicely and so I'm have trouble setting up my attendance letter templates. Any-one been through this already and can point me to a solution? Sheelagh

We are looking to stream line our response to the Sims Emergency Alert button. Does anyone know if there is a way, or bit of software, to forward these message to email? Or perhaps a better way all together?

There must be a better way than the way we are doing this? We have some sixth form lessons scheduled for an after school slot but the teacher and students are all free in a period in the day. The origin class is in a Block A but the period that can be used is associated with Block B. We have created a new class for a single lesson in Block B. It works but means that we have to add all the students to a new class and a new block and created all associated marksheets etc. Is there a way that the original class can be squeezed/forced into the period without having to create a new class? Or is this the only way? TIA

Have you seen the Capita results day survival guide? That's pretty much step by step. Is there something specific that you need to know?

Hi, is it that complicated? I know that the rules say the date of the first exam so, in the case of the old iGCSE English Language days, the iGCSE taken on 6th May count ahead of the GCSE taken later. If you have students who are taking a couple of the Art subjects with the same discount code, the AB's don't collect the dates of the exams so they can't be assumed. I expect that everyone will be taking the exam season route too.

Hi, My timetabler has gone off for the summer. I have sorted out the easy stuff, like rooms, and am now left with fixing the empty registration period. Should the Sims pastoral structure be reproduced in Nova or is there a neat way to link it to the blank space on everyone's timetable?

We are having all students in their tutor groups and not their timetable classes for the last period of the year. I have been told that there is a tweak to enable tutors to register them. I can't find it - can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance

Individual Report template - any-one know where they are stored?

Your star..... You've saved me a lot of time -
Thanks all for the suggestions. I'm pretty sure that any electronic permission will be better that the paper version - we have lots of responses that the students fake their parent signature on.

I am looking for a better way to Produce a daily digital bulletin for staff - At the mo, we are using the SIMS one on the home page but, quite frankly, it's a bit of a faff remembering to update it if there's a change and some teacher aren't logging out of sims so don't see the latest. Get responses to trips and activities electronically without resorting to tearing off, even if the trips are free (tried ParentPay but it doesn't like free!) Any tips and hints gratefully received. TIA

Can any-one advise me how I can do this? I work out how to achieve it even though I've seen it on our SIMS

Dear Wise ones, I have a new course Cambridge Technical Diploma. I can add this is Sims in Course manager with this level. Can any-one tell me how I can get the "Cam Tec Dip" level into be assigned in Nova to that the course match and the pupils get into the right course?

So what is it like being a Data Manager?
WayTooTricky replied to Corvidae's topic in Data Managers's Data Managers Topics
I was going to post you a picture of my desk draws. Top draw Paracetamol, Ibuprofen, Migraine tablets. 2nd draw - mostly chocolate. Me - a bit stressy but happy to have puzzles to solve and always new things to find out about. -
First you have to decide what you are using as the baseline measure. Then it's not too tricky to work out.

If you have the right permissions (attendance manager, maybe), you can get a box on the Sims Home Page that show them. The Missing Registers Notification panel. We send SIMS messages that are quite blunt asking them to complete it. If it get's too much of an issue, we have a quiet word with the staff. #ScaryAdminMatriarch.

Morning experienced Techie people, I have an individual pupil report and would like to 'grey out' a table cell if the contents are a specific value eg "no comment" Does anyone know if/how I can do this? I am not bad at Word conditional formatting in a mail merge but this isn't a traditional mailmerge so I'm not sure what to use a field tags. All suggestions gratefully received.

I had this and discovered that, although the students were in classes, they weren't members of the course.
