  1. Make a 2nd facebook account for work. I'm a member of the group and of the exams officer one. Sometimes it's hard to get away from worky things.
  2. Blimey Seb, "let out" ! Me, I'm lucky if they unchain me from my desk long enough to go for a pee!
  3. Dear Despondent, That's just what I have had to do to resolve the issue. I am prepared to be put right but been trying to find a way around it for a couple of years. Sheelagh
  4. Has anyone got a copy of the specification for this course?
  5. Not sure about music but we have had qualifications counted that were claimed after the pupils had left school. (It was an vocational qualification that was offered off site - the course was closing and it took an age to get resolved.) Nevertheless we just waited for the tables checking exercise and sent the certificates then. I think though that the quals need to be achieved by the end of August to count.
  6. You can just select multiple worksheet and control-F in the usual way. That'll scroll through the different tabs but only in the one file.
  7. Still there but you have to open the column details box to access it. It's 4 clicks instead of one.
  8. Not the best update for us - the loss of the tick/untick box for hidden columns is going to be a pain in neck and soooo time consuming. Oh yeah, and exams organiser didn't work... (much more about our installation though!)
  9. No quiet periods here - none never, ever, ever, ever. I'm the Exams Officer and am acting Assessment manager. Should never have shown them those excel skills picked up in a previous life.
  10. It is rubbish that there is nothing to help us. I've gone with the number of hours that are timetabled - we can justify that we are teaching those hours. Am happy to be corrected
  11. I've done it - there's a little handbook in the SIMS documentation about it. The thing I did badly when I started was not to plan it out. A consequence of this is a few exam titles that I want to use are hidden in the ether, connected to other exams of the wrong level. Just pop into exams organiser and create a season pattern, use it to create a new exam season and go into the season. Open up the base data, right click on DOM, add a series. I use series code BM for my November season - B represent the 11th Month and M for Mocks. Then you create your exams in the same format as external ones. Awards and Elements - it's this bit where I should have taken more time to plan. I tried to encode my entry codes to mean something but I used them against the wrong levels so now I've "lost sight" of someearly ones. The other thing we don't really use is capturing the results so maybe plan this too if you want staff to enter results through exams. I "believe" that it is possible to create your own CSV files to imitate the ones from the board. Hope this is a start. Sheel
  12. Been an exams office a couple of years. Rarely do English Marks move. I think that I've had maybe 2 go up a mark, more go down a mark and once a script was increased by 20. I think that those pupils who a just a couple of marks of a grade boundary and mote closely scrutinised than those a bit further away but I'm pretty sure that it's more down to the fact that they have to give us our money back if the grades are changed but they can keep it if they don't!
  13. We had a similar issue following an upgrade. Turns out there's a flag that was left switched on by the staff dialed in to do the upgrade. Only administrators had permission to log in if it is set. Not sure where the flag is but it took them a day to work it out and sort it.
  14. Try this formula ="login" & ROW() &"@domain.ac.uk" Copy down as many time as you like
  15. Hi All, Just signed up today. I'm an Exams Officer at a school. They keep me in a cupboard and feed me puzzles to solve, with data on Sims, on a regular basis to keep me quiet. Sometimes I need a pointer or two. Am I a Geek? I admit to having a bit of coding experiance, in a past life. For those old enough to remember, object code patches for ICL ME29 machines and have used a machine running George 3. Maybe a bit Geeky!
