SIMS.net EMA Module

Hello

 

Does anybody use the EMA module for sixth form? I'm interested in hearing how good it is, is it worth the money etc? BTW how much does it cost?

 

I am also interested in how much time it will save EMA secretaries.

Hi,

 

We currently have ema for sims.net and the people responsible for it don't use it, the website is much better.

 

The main issue it there is no select all, you have to individually set every student payment.

 

On the website there is a select all function then you only have to sort out the one you don't want to pay.

 

As for cost i dont know as this was in place before i was in post.

I managed to get a cost and its £695 to buy then an annual maintenance of £170. If its not much benefit to your school I don't think it will benefit us much either.

We have the EMA module but are not able to use it.

 

The field for the student reference number in the SIMS module doesn't accept the new format of numbers provided by EMA.

 

Capita are apparently working on this problem but no timescale has been given for a resolution.

Interesting, I decided not to buy it anyway as not a lot of people seemed to use it plus it would only add to our annual maintenance package.

Interesting to see some of you guys just using the website - I thought EMA payments were dependent on proving attendance (hence why EMA and lesson monitor seem to go hand in hand). Is it just a case of someone going onto a website and confirming whether or not a student was in a lesson?

 

Also who is generally (or should be!) responsible for EMA adminstration in your organisation?

Yes the website consists of ticking the box if a student has been present - this is task is carried out by our Sixth Form Admin Assistant who has responsibility for all EMA payments.

It's a bit more complicated -- the Sims.net module has some good features but since the new contract stuff happened we've gone back to the site!
